Hey Dakka, so there is a big tournament in February which I guess is the qualifier for the GW Vegas Tournament. I'm completely green when it comes to fantasy, having never actually played a game, though I am a veteran 40k player. I liked the look of the High Elves, particularly the White Lions, so I'm converting most of the army to look like them and obviously my list will feature them. The list is designed to be competitive but not cheesy.

Lords
Archmage lvl 4 (Life Lore)
- Folariath's Robe
- Loremasters cloak
- Silver wand
355

Heroes
Korhil
- Lion Chariot
270

Noble
- Great Weapon
- Heavy Armor
- Shield
- Barded Steed
- BSB
- Banner of Swiftness
155

Core
44 Sea Guard
- Shields
- Full Command
597

Special
15 White Lions
-Full command
255

15 White Lions
-Full command
255

Lion Chariot
140

7 Dragon Princes
- Musician
220

TOTAL: 2247

The Noble Joins up with the Dragon Princes to cause mayhem. The two Chariots team up to hit a unit hard and fast, hopefully receiving some buffs from the mage. The mage joins the Seaguard to form a brick nearly invincible from magic. White lions support the brick.

I know, I know: great eagles. I just hate the models. I see their use I just cannot justify using them. I was hoping the Dragon Princes with their boosted speed from the Noble could hunt down war machines if needed. Any other thoughts?

are you running 4x2 or 8x1 on the DP's? Almost no reason to run 4x2 units anymore as they don't get a rank and the extra wounds are meh. 5x1 or 5x2 seems the standard these days for heavy cav.

And why on earth 44 sea guard? they are overpriced and mediocre. And a single unit of them begs to be eaten by a large spell, even with the protection. Heaven forbid a template artillery weapon targets them.

What I see: 1 large unit with low T and no major threat. 2 hammer units of infantry with low numbers. 2 chariots to eat cannons. 1 oversized unit of heavy cav to route with fodder units.

Slim down the princes, beef up the lions, split the sea guard.

Alright, How about this:

Lords
Archmage lvl 4 (Life Lore)
- Enchanted Shield
- Silver wand
280

Heroes
Korhil
- Lion Chariot
270

Noble
- Great Weapon
- Dragon Armor
- Shield
- Barded Steed
- BSB
- Banner of Swiftness
157

Core
24 Sea Guard
- Shields
- Full Command
337

10 Archers
- Musician
115

10 Archers
- Musician
115

Special
17 White Lions
- Champion
- Musician
273

17 White Lions
- Champion
- Musician
273

Lion Chariot
140

Lion Chariot
140

5 Dragon Princes
150

TOTAL: 2250

I figure the added mobility from an extra chariot will help put the pressure on my opponent quick, hopefully drawing their attention away from units like the White Lions. ArchMage hangs out with the Seaguard, casting regeneration on them and Flesh to Stone and Regrowth on others. Archers help whittle down big units or plink at small fast movers. Noble links up with the Dragon Princes and supports or hunts per usual.

Alternatively I can drop the Seaguard in favor of 32 spearelves and add banners/hawkeyes to the archers. I just figured the extra range attacks could be useful if I need it.

I'm assuming you are running the lions 6x3 yeah? Should perform much better than the previous list.

Play a few games with it and see how each unit performs then revise the list if needed to make up for any shortcomings you encounter.

The second list looks much more stout, something close to what Im runing. As for seaguard I never run them in units larger then thirty, as stated before they beg to be targeted by warmachines and magic, although there is a easy fix for the magic part not so much the shooting.
