Im looking for some "outside the box" criticism here.

I'm in a position where I have to rebuild my Waaagh! from the ground up. My only HQ in my list in a KFF Mek. He'll be safely stowed away a battlewagon along with a mob of 'Ard Boyz (19ct) or Tankbustas. Ultimately his bodyguard mob will make the decision between Burna or PK.

I'd like opinions on any other potential gear that could lend to effectiveness and/or survivability.

Current Considerations:
Bosspole (only needed remotely if ran w/ Bustas)
'Eavy Armor (w/ Ard Boyz)
Cybork Body (more likely than above, especially if ran with Bustas)
Attack Squig (pts hvy potion, but an extra pw attack w/ burna or klaw)

So as to clear up any questions as to my Army's direction, here's the list thus far...

--------------------------------------------
HQ:

1) Big Mek (90pts)
- kustom force field

Troops:

1) 20 ‘Ard boyz (235 pts)
- ‘ard boy mob
- Nob (pk)

2) 12 Shoota boys (162pts)
- Nob (Pk, bosspole)
- big shoota
- trukk (ram, plank)

3) 12 Shoota boys (162pts)
- Nob (Pk, bosspole)
- big shoota
- trukk (ram, plank)

Elites:

1) 5 Tankbustas (90pts)
- x3 bomb squigs
- x2 tankhammer

Fast Attack:

1) 1 Deffkopta (45pts)
- twin-linked rokkit
2) 1 Deffkopta (45pts)
- twin-linked rokkit
3) 1 Deffkopta (60pts)
- twin-linked big shoota
- buzzsaw

Heavy Support:

1) Battlewagon (200pts)
[Tankrusha] * {Tankbustas}
- grot riggers
- ‘ard case
- armor plates
- deff rolla
- boarding plank
- red paint job
- x4 rokkits
- kannon

2) Battlewagon (160pts)
[Grimwaagh!] * {Ard’ Boyz}
-grot riggers
- armor plates
- deff rolla
- boarding plank
- x4 big shoota
--------------------------------------------------
This puts me at 1249pts thus far, with room for whatever I want on my Mek, and maybe another Troops or Elite choice. I typically play against one type of SM or the other, hence the Anti Tank/AP3 craze

edit: I realize that running Mek w/ ard boyz will require me to cut out one Ork boy.

Have you thought about burna boyz with the big mek? Other than the squig bombs, I think you can get anti-tank in better areas than the tankbustas.

I think here your main problem here, is your doing things too expensively.....

'Ard boyz might be usefull, but for 15 points less you get 10 more Boyzs... (i know no good for a Battlewagon, but it would be 65 points cheaper for the squad)
I also don't like Trukk boyz very much, what can 12 boyz really do? I3 on the charge, with a 6+ save means not very many Bpyz will be hitting back (especially since your main opponent is Marines, so all I4 or more.)

The 200 point Battlewagon could work, but i'm not sure. Haven't seen one like that in play. so don't know its cost effectiveness.
And really, you can do a Boyz transport Battlewagon for 30 points less....

If you want to keep the trukk boyz, i would recomend another squad of them in this list, then at least you have 36 that can maybe do multi assaults

Ok, I did some number crunching. Also took Rodgers advice and dropped Eavy Armor, but instead of going for a 3rd trukk (as i hate putting them together, much less blowing $33 for one) I worked in a 2nd Wagon of sluggas to compensate. Feel free to offer up any other ideas. Most of my new goodies are still in the mail, so i'm still up for criticism

As of right now, the Mek is riding in Da' Tankrusha

Good change from the 'Ard boyz to the other squad of boys. You needed more troops in that list. Overall I think it would fair decently well.

There may be some who critic your choice of taking Tank Bustas, but I don't think they're as bad as everyone says. Overall it's a good Big mek list. If only you had the points to add another Big mek with SAG

Yeah after the extra boys and bw i had 26pts left, blew it on a pk for the mek....now I just gotta decide how to model a pk and kff lol. The homemade kff mek i got isnt going to cut it.

Ok your updated list, Big Mek is better with a Burna as on the charge is I4 so not too bad and will be S5. If you have points throw in a attack squig which gives the Big Mek 5 attacks on the charge if I'm right. However, the Big Mek is ebst kept cheap with just a KFF.

Shoota Boyz are better than Slugga Boyz and Trukks are fail, they're too weak and don't carry a lot of Orks (which need numbers) and your units inside will die, rapidly, which I am sure you do not want.

Tank Bustas are pants, Lootas a better.

Having a enclosed Battlewagon stops the Tank Bustas firing out the top, bad idea. You also do not need 4 big shootas as you can only fire one of them if you move, so that's three of them wasted.
