Right now I'm in the means of a trade.

For a Galrauch, First of the Chaos Dragons it's worth 57.75 retail

At 40% off it's worth 34.65

One problem is that it's missing it's tail.

How much is this worth now?

Check ebay and other sites for that missing bit and subtract that amount from the total?

Have had a hard time finding it.

I'm going to make up some rules now.

Parts that are generic or easily replacable have a negligible to slight impact on price. A rhino missing a hatch is still worth 90+% of what it'd be worth with the hatch.

Parts that are highly specific, or limited, or desirable, can nearly half the value of a model. Think predator turret.

Parts that are integral, but relatively easily replacable (dragon wings) are reduced roughly the cost of the lost bit.

For the dragons tail, I'd say that it's more than generic but less than highly specific. It's an important, but not crucial peice, not easily replacable. I'd say the remaining model is worth ~70% of it's value with the bit. Or 70% of the 60% of retail.

Alright, I asked $25 for the model, being in its current state.

Hmm...I think this should be put in Dakka Discussions.

Assuming the miniature is not painted or anything but otherwise assembled, second hand market value usually starts around the 70%-ish range. Some may value it higher, others lower.

If the piece is hard to find, you may be able to haggle down further if you think replacing it would be difficult.

Metallic figures that are unique tend to be more difficult to find a replacement part for it.

EDIT: Is there a picture of the model so we may be able to tell the value?

Hmm...here is going to be a picture of the dragon with tail:

Well you see, it's a very unique tail.

I've looked through all that I can. Never seen anyone offering up the tail.

Only way I see it being possible would be a converter who bought the model, didn't want the tail and just has it lying around.

If you have some greenstuff and any friends who play nids get a barbed lashwhip and you could make a tail that looks pretty close to the original no problem.

Possibly, not to many Nid players around the area.

Bottom line - let people know it is missing. Whatever they agree to pay is fine. As long as you are open and honest about it, no one can complain. Someone with Greenstuff Skill (plus a drill and some wire) might be happy to have it.
