i am painting a deamon prince model as magnus the red. the armour is going to be gold, shaded w/ blue. but i dont know what color the skin should be! i was thinking red, but then he looks a little too much like a bloodthirster. another thought i had was maybe bleached bone skin washed with asurman blue? any suggestions?

It would be helpful if you could give us a photo of the miniature, so we can at least visualise it with the suggested colours.

From that we might be able to suggest options for you. As it stands, bleached bone with an Asurmen blue wash, isn't a particularly skin kind of colour. Instead you could try using Tallarn Flesh first and then washing with Asurmen blue, then blend back to Tallarn flesh and then maybe a little further using elf flesh/tallarn flesh mixes.

Or other option is do Red skin (as he is meant to have) but start from Dark Flesh, and then add some Red and Dwarf Flesh to your mix. Should come out alright.

Well only his skin would be red. His armour etc would be typically Blue so i don't see it clashing too much.

Well, Magnus (and his sons) were supposed to have a coppery/reddish skin color/tint, with Magnus having by far the strongest tint. Most were dark-haired but there are even blondes in there, all with a slight copper skin tone. Nah, they're not afro-american or with red face-paint and one eye gouged out or of a darker complexion as some think.

As what Magnus looks like now - there was a sucktastic epic figure of him that had blue skin AFAIK. But seeing as he's Magnus the Red and literally had red skin, I'd make him/paint him in the same colors as efore his ascension.
