I have been looking around at some custom/scenic bases and I started wondering if they are realy worth that much money. How much would you spend on the ideal pre-made, unpainted base for your mini's? And to take it one step further: if you had the time and resource to sculp and cast your own bases would you?

I might sculpt and cast my own, but I don't know if I would order pre made ones...

I like bases to be pretty plain. Too often scenic bases distract from the miniatures.

I do like scenic bases. I often just went for the basing kit though. Ideally I wouldnt spend more than 20-30 on it for a dread sized base.I might be convinced to buy more than that in cool looking scenery bits (like broken statue heads i have seen that aren't very cheap)
