Q: If an IC moves away from a unit equiped with heavy weapons and thus leaves said unit, does said unit count as having moved in the shooting phase (assuming only the IC moved, of course).

Example: a Master of the Forge attached to a squad of scout snipers leaves the unit to intercept an enemy unit closing in. Can the scouts still fire their sniper rifles in the shooting phase?

Have a look at page 48, ICs joining and leaving units, which covers this.

Short answer is no, only the IC counts as having moved, same as if the IC had joined them.

However please double check, as that was from memory - the IC section appears a lot in rules questions, so I have the page numbers in memory but not necessarily have the contents 100%!
