I got interested in the MMO and bought the disc since it was $10. Do enough people still play that it's fun?

Last time i was on it there were plenty of people. Though Order seem woefully undermanned on the server i was on. Though they put up a good fight a lot of the time, their guild weren't really very organised.
It was fun though.

I still play every once in a while, not so much tho since the latest patch. I still have lots of fun when i play and i dont usually have much trouble finding a good fight, either in sc's or the rvr lakes.

RvR can take a while to get started. The Scs tend to be fully booked most of the time.

Order usually is outnumbered too, so playing on that side can get a bit frustrating when you're constantly getting roflstomped. thank god for Against All Odds, it at least keeps some people fighting.

Kk, I got it so I can get into the world a bit and learn about the factions since I'm starting off with 40K and will play WHFB after.
Plus it looks like less people play it at the GW here. Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm also trying to figure out what I'll play as.

Was crowded some months ago on the few servers left. But that doesn't really matter, if you just enjoy the world design and do your quests. I learned a lot from this game (how camps and villages look, how different countries look, how to design Warhammer terrain for tabletop) and still recommend it for that alone.

+1
The terrain, sounds and quests are what got me back into Warhammer tabletop. Pretty awesome looking things in this game.

I wish the game was better. I guess I still have an active account. I suppose it comes down to human nature. They tried to make it be World of Warcraft a little bit later, with equipment a huge factor in win:loss.
It's kind of like WHFB, you want to lose cuz you suck or the dice hate you. Not because someone bought a fancy unit that is disproportionately powerful.
Also, you can't change the fact that zerg > skill. If you got 150 guys, they're going to go where they go and 100 guys aren't gonna stop them.

WAR was a very fun game, but sadly my video card died and I'm not playing now. When I left the population seemed alright...a little hard to get through public quests sometimes but not too bad. I'd say give it a go and see how you like it. In my opinion it is still the most enjoyable PvP out there.

PQs depend on the population of a particular area... i sometimes find myself going back to a PQ to help people just so i can say i have done it.

I played when it first came out and maybe a couple of months after. It was alright for a while but had the same issues as any other rushed-release MMO and on top of that it was trying to be WoW-clone + PvP-centric, except there wasn't much really to do with the PvP and it didn't get the things right that WoW already had. They did a good job creating the world though, it was a very beautiful game overall.

Oh, I will say that if you're a hardcore modeller/painter, WAR is good just for that. I went around and took tons of screenshots of creatures.

Depends on what server really.
Some are balanced, some are flooded Order or Chaos.
Some servers depend on the time of day.
The game is fun overall, if you're a fan of PvP then the RvR will be fun.
Remember though, you must join Warbands, and you must get a mount. Only way to really go far.

The main thing that plagued this game wasn't the content (though it wasn't the best on that either, especially end-game), it was the game engine.
I did, and occasionally still do, on a top of the line computer, and I still lagged and glitched everywhere. Changing it to minimum settings did nada.
It still has these problems occasionally, but most people aren't willing to give it another chance. Its almost deserted now, with the majority of the servers closed. I believe there is only like 4 or 5 U.S. servers open, compare it to the...50 or more WoW servers, you can see the difference in population.
It is beautiful, just didn't have their priorities right straight from the get-go.
