So, much to my horror, I have a USPS label in my mailbox saying I have not 1, but 4 articles of certified mail at the post office from the IRS. In all my years of paying taxes, I have learned that when the IRS sends you certified mail, you open it and you open it fast. But the post office is closed and now I'm stewing about it; I've never received more than 1 piece of certified mail at a time from them.
Anyone else experience this? To me, it kind of smells like an audit (

), but it is addressed to both me and my wife, and we only started filiing jointly this year. Just curious if something like this has happened to anyone else and what it was. Or if any CPAs have heard of something like this (we do owe back taxes for this year, but those will be added to our installment plan and there would be no reason to send 4 letters about one fiscal year, in my mind).
