Well they're engineered to be killing machines and they're essentially plant-like life forms.

Plus, afaik we don't even know why *we* sleep.

We don't know why. But we have to. Even plants sort of sleep... though it's not really sleeping tbh. And they're fungi not plants.

They arn't fungi, they have a symbiotic relationship with fungi but have much more in common with animals really.

It's a bit funny but essentially no not really. They are in a different...Kingdom iirc
They can and often do have the same methods of obtaining energy but they can differ quite a lot.

They get do Fungi-Animals then.
That would mean they do need to sleep.

Presumably orks need to do it for the same reason... or just because they happen to be knocked out at the same moment each night.

Actually, viruses aren't in a different kingdom, they're not technically alive...

Anyways, I don't see why it would be necessary for orks to sleep. Sleeping means they're not dakkaing, which means they're not being very ork-like.

Plus, if they're unconscious, they don't know they exist, which means that they stop existing.

And if they sleep. Do they sleep like minutes or hours?. I won't belive that Orks sleeps 9-12 hours like we do. If they do sleep it must certanly will be 30min top!.

IIRC, virae don't have their own kingdom, there's animals, plants, fungi, bacteria and... I can't remember the English name for the last one... Y'know, the unicellular organisms that have a core, or whatever... Can't remember the English name of that organ either...

Now you know!

There are five kingdoms
Animals
Plants
Fungi
Eukaryotes
Prokaryotes

The bottom 2 are bacterial life forms, but different in genetic makeup prokaryotes are proper ancient and are often intolerant to oxygen.

Know one really knows what to do with viruses, some biologists think they meet the criteria for being alive, some don't.

IIRC I read in my mate's codex that Orks have photosynthetic algae in their skin, which would imply at night they don't produce as much energy as they would during daylight hours, so might shut down to conserve energy, but i'm just theorising.

Orks are a sub-species of the Orkoid family of organisms.

an Orkoid is a symbiotic organism made up of Fungus and Plant forms. possably, they are related to Slime Molds which are unique in that they are mobile.

all Orkoids share the same genetic code, making them a single species.

whenever an Orkoid dies, and at certain times during it's life, it releases Spores that will grow into a new orkoid. these spores can grow into a varity of forms, from the very basic Fungus forms upon which other orkoids often feed on, to the Gargantuan Squiggoths.

Orkoids are uniqe in that the species depends upon itself for food.

at the bottom is the Fungus.

from the Fungal form the orkoids branch into 2 different subgroups. Greenskins and Squigs.

on the Greenskin tree there are the Snotlings, Gretchin, and Orks.

on the Squig tree there are Squigs and Squiggoths.

each of the sub-species is dependent on either a lower form of the Orkoid or on the Fungus for it's food.

Squigs eat the Fungus and wastes left behind by the larger Orkoids and in turn are tended and eaten by the larger orkoids.

Orkoids are a unique species that takes both animal and fungal forms.
