Within a few hrs a lot of the ink sinks to the bottom. Is there a way to keep it integrated with the medium?

This would be the secret that GW and other companies have.

I find it's best to store the washes on their sides. This makes mixing them easier as the ink has more contact with the medium. Also, don't fill your bottles all the way up. I leave about 1/5 empty so that there is room for it to slosh around while shaking, thus agitating it better.
