Okay this is just a general question when a unit has a necron lord attached to it or the 12" or whatever, lets say for example destroyers I understand that if its double the strength of the model they don't get a WBB role but if the lord is there with a res orb then the unit can take its WBB roll. What happens if I wipe out the entire unit does the lord and the entire unit get WBB rolls even though i have killed it with a weapon double its toughness. Also just in general what is the quickest way to get rid of destroyers I have had alot of trouble with them. This is odviously with a destroyer lord w/warscythe and res orb. thanks in advance

Double the toughness, not double the strength.

Normally if you wiped out the whole unit and lord they would get no roll, but the darn Res Orb specifically works even when the Lord is dead, until he actually fails a WBB roll.

If you want tactics help, I'd recommend posting the question over in the Tactics forum. Be sure to provide as much info as you can when you do; what army and units you're using, what points size the game is, and what else is in your opponent's army.

This only works if there is another unit of destroyers on the board. True enough that the res orb negates the effects of ID, but the destroyers still have to follow the WBB rules. If there isn't another destroyer unit within 6" and they are all damaged, the unit is removed, res orb or not.
And the res orb only works until the lord is down, even if he later passes WBB. If the lord goes down and then another model within 6" suffers ID, it does not gain the benefit of the res orb. It will suffer ID as normal.
That's the rules portion. I agree with Mannahnin that if you want specific help on defeating Necrons, post your list in tactics. I beat Necrons fairly regularly and have fine tuned a number of tactics to counter them.

I would like to clarify that the lord will still get his WBB even if he was part of the unit when it was wiped clean as his rules clearly state he can WBB by hiself.

True enough, but also remember that the lord gets WBB due to his own rule unless his last wound is from a weapon with S 2X his T. If so then he gets no WBB unless he or another Lord within 6" has a res orb.

It also isnt "anywhere" on the board - the destroyers have to be within 6", or there has to be a tomb spider on the board within 12" and another unit of destroyers anywhere.

As for tactics against them: they have a small unit size. Like ALL necron units, focus fire is your friend: make them take saves, and if you do down the whole unit then you have a chance of at least forcing them to combine into one unit - meaning they are less effective.
