Well, those of you who caught Hangfires first battlereport will know both him and I are complete noobs! So we're learning as we go.

Today, we had two games around his - this is from memory so i'm sure he'll come over and correct me on his army makeup if its wrong - my army was about 60 points more than his as we are using what we have, with every upgrade we can fit rather than a actual army list as we dont have many figures yet.

The Amazing Chaos Wonderful Army!

Demon Prince, Wings, Slaanesh, Lash

9 CSM, H-Bolter, Icon of Slaanesh, AC with PF

7 NM, AC with Power Sword + Doom Siren, 1 Blastmaster

The nasty evil space elves!

1 Farseer - Witch Blade? all the spells, all the wards + soulstone with
3 Warlock guard - Empower, Destroy, Thing that makes you get to re-roll failed leadership tests - 1 with Singing spear

10 Guardians, Scatter Cannon

5 Striking Scorps, 1 Exarch with Rending Blade, both Exarch upgrades

As i said, we just used what we have so we both appreciate this isnt exactly competitive but was a LOT of fun!

Table had a ruined fort in the top right, a raised firing area in the top left, a small forest in the bottom right a water tower in the middle and a bunker in the bottom left.

We rolled capture and control with me setting up in the bottom left corner and him in the top right - I won first turn.

-----

The demon prince brought his long talons to his lips his long tongue sliding lasciviously along the razor edges, relishing the sharp pang of pleasure and pain mixed with the coppery taste of his blood, an appetiser for the delicious feast of souls that would soon follow - A eldar ship had been shot down returning from a Crone world laden with spirit stones.. One of the caches had already been found and his men were setting up defences around it as he waited-

"My Lord" one of his marines returned, kneeling before the monstrous figure, the Daemon Prince let his lavender gaze fall upon the figure stretching his claws as blood dripped down his chin
"We've found the rest of the Spirit stones, however a small Eldar force got there before us they know we're here, they're preparing to attack" the Chaos Marine spoke confidently, his body trembling in excitement only the lust of battle brought freedom to the endless ennui of which they suffered.
"Tell the men to prepare, its time for these Eldar to return to Slaanesh..."

Battle began with us setting up, my Noise Marines took position on my objective with the Chaos Marines in the middle of my quarter, my Daemon Prince hiding just behind them for cover.

The Eldar guardian squad took position in top right corner near his objective positioning the heavy weapon along the fort in the top right the Farseer and her guard were hidden behind a wall in the middle of his set up area with the Striking Scorps in reserve.

My Noise Marines stay where they were, unable to draw a bead on any opponent they held the objective while my DP and CSM moved forward to block los with the guardian squad via the water tower.

--

The Eldar farseer stepped out from the wall, turning her eyes upon the Chaos Marines who were foolishly not as covered as they had hoped she unleashed an Eldritch Storm - They Psychic energies erupted over the ground before the Marines, the Dark Gods blessings however throwing off the Farseer's aim, while the rest of the Eldar army waited patiently

Farseer used Eldritch storm after moving out, but was 1/2inch out of range! Everything else was out of range so a quiet turn

End of turn 1

--

The Daemon Prince and the chaos marines charged forwards, the daemon prince flying through the air to land in front of the Farseer, The prince made a sensuous gesture and a jeweled ethreal whip lashed from his hands to the guardians protecting the stash of spirit stones - with a malevolant laugh he forced the Eldar who were now unable to control there own bodies to leave the ruined fort just as a shimmering blast of noise exploded amongst them, three fell to the ground lifeless, there bones shattered by the thrumming note and blood pouring from the joints of the armor - The Daemon Prince turned to the farseer "I'll make sure I treat your soul very... carefully, you will be a treat for me for millenia!" It lept through the air, claws scything into the Warlock guard as they lept to protect the leader, magical armour protecting all but one from the monstrous claws of the Daemon Prince.

This round i started by moving the marines forward and then leaping the DP over the top, the demon prince lashed the guardians into line of sight of my noise marines but were unfortunately out of range of my marines as the h-bolter couldnt fire. The blastmaster opened up with its blast marker and managed to catch 3 guardians and wound all 3, followed by the DP assaulting into the warlocks but only one taking a wound and being removed as a casualty.

--

The noise marines let loose shrieks of pleasure as they saw the carnage the Blastmaster made of the guardians, but they quickly turned to sounds of shock as from the desert sands a unit of eldar warriors attack, chainswords buzzing as mandiblasters let loose blasts of energy - The heavy armour took the brunt of the blows and the noise marine champion lay about him with a shimmering power sword but at the end of the swirling melee three noise marines lay dead and only a single eldar warrior payed his own life.
The Guardians moved turning there scatter laser onto the chaos marines but shaken by the daemonic monstrosity engaged with the farseer the shots went wide

The Eldar infiltrated from the side and charged into the noise marines protecting my objective - slaying three, which since nearly 20 attacks were rolled was mostly down to my incredibly jammy armour rolls! The AC fought back slaying one and the scatter laser fired at my marines, but due to bs of 3 missed totally, DP hit and wounded 4 times against the Farseer and locks, but all saved :( two wounds in return! Both Saved! go go Demon power armour!

End of turn 2

--

The Chaos Marines turned to face the guardians and unleashed the heavy bolter, high explosive shells peppered the squad slaying another three as the veteran warrior adeptly aimed his weapon - The Noisemarines lashed out with there own attacks against the eldar slaying another as the eldar took two in return and the Daemon Prince rammed his sword through the chest of one of the Warlocks, his eldritch powers failing as his life left his eyes before bringing his slashing talons across the other removing its head from its shoulders and leaving the Farseer to face the monstrosity alone

CSM in the middle managed to find los on the guardian squad and opened up with the heavy bolter slaying three, the melee continued on my objective with the noise marines being reduced by 5 now leaving only the two and the champion and the DP managed to finish off the warlock guard of the farseer.

--

The Guardians opened up with there weapon the air hissing with the deluge of laser shots that struck home against the Chaos Marines, when the light faded only a single marine lay dead the rest protected by mighty armour stood tall waiting calmly for the heavy weapon to reload - The Farseer brought her witchblade slashing across the Daemons chest, slashing through its armour and drawing blood - She was met with only a hiss of pleasure and its own sword smashed against her, sending her reeling back blood dripping from a tremendous cut across her stomach, she fought back to her feet and turned running from the monstrosity only for it to leap after her, catching her up in one of its talons "Now, you're mine!" Its fanged maw opened impossibly wide and bit down, ripping her head from her shoulders- While across the battlefield the Scorpions slayed the last of the Noise Marines, when the melee ended only the Exarch and one Aspect warrior still stood covered in gore but exultant in victory

Guardians fired the scatter laser and managed to hit and wound with all 4, followed by 3x6's and a 5 - Hangfire looked ready to beat me to death with his beautifully painted models at this point - But generously instead made me a tea! Bonus points
My noise marines were obliterated! My DP brought the farseer down to a single wound in exchange for only one taken in return and the farseer broke, Hangfire then rolled a 1 and i rolled a 6.. meaning poor Farseer was DP food! Nom nom nom, Sweeping advanced next to the guardian squad

End of turn 3

--

The Exultant Striking Scorpions turned to find new enemies, only to see the Chaos Marines turning to face them - The sky itself seemed to turn dark as the vast amount of bolter fire exploded amongst them the exarch diving this way and that for a moment it looked like he would survive only as the last shot caught him - Puncturing through the mandibles of his armour and exploding within his helm, the ruined body of his aspect warrior brother fell beside him covered in bloody holes. The Demon Prince lept into the Guardian Squad, claws rending and ripping there own attacks failing to hurt it in reply and they still shaken by the loss of the farseer turned and fled the Daemon only to be caught and destroyed by the Winged Monster..

The two scorpions were now out of combat and within range of my CSM's who unleashed the heavy bolter and there own weapons, amazingly most of the saves were made by Hangfire, the last wound JUST getting through to finish off the poor Exarch - My DP lept into combat with the guardian squad and slaughtered them leaving him with no units left . Victory to chaos! Allthough i'm sure we had 4 rounds not 3.. so i've probably got this a BIT wrong on the report, but I'm sure Hang will correct me

--

The Exarch awoke tied to a golden bed with jeweled cloths, she looked around to see a pink mist instead of walls and there at the foot of the bed was a Human, impossibly beautiful with Lavender eyes, his voice was a sibilant whisper "I told you, you would be mine... forever" he lifted his hands, long golden claws sliding impossibly from the skin and leant over her as she made her first scream

Darn'd squishy Guardian squad!

Hopefully switching from the Scatter laser to Star Cannon will prove advantageous (thank goodness I magnetised)

The Scorpion exarch is currently in the freezer, which I hope will make the super glue brittle and I can replace the biting blade with the claw.

My warlocks and Farseer, were pretty much useless against the DP, although I forgot to cast, Fortune and Guide - doh!

Can anyone clear up a rule for us? The Farseer model is depicted with 2 blades, but the codex only accounts for a witchblade or shinning spear. Do I get the extra attack for having 2 CC weapons, or is the witchblade in the form of 2 swords?

Although the actual model is holding two blades, one long and one short, her entry in the Eldar codex does not say that she gets any extra attacks. So, for instance, if a Farseer equipped with a witchblade charges into combat, her number of attacks would be: 1 base+1 charge+1 cc bonus, making a total of 3 attacks. I think we are to assume that the dagger is more for ceremonial purposes rather than combat and is not used.

Starcannons would certainly help you out here since so much 3+ armor is coming at you. Just be sure to have your Farseer guide the Guardians every turn and you'll have twin-linked, str 6 ap 2 goodness that will make those fallen humans quiver in fear.

I wouldn't say that your Warlocks and Farseer were useless against the DP. I once had a game where my lone Farseer, armed with a singing spear, went toe-to-toe with a DP and killed it! Remember, witchblades and singing spears wound on a 2+ regardless of toughness value and, if you remember to cast fortune, your mini Seer Council can reroll their invuln saves against the DP's attacks. The dice just seemed to not like you in that battle.

Thanks for the reply Mr Autarch sir.

How does the Farseer get 3A? I can only find 2A, 1 base and 1 for the charge, if she charges. Where does the +1 cc bonus come from? Is it a witchblade thing?

Ah ha, I see on the GW website that a Farseers and Warlocks come equipped with Shuriken pistols, oh and now i've just found it in the codex.

It wasn't written in the "fluffy" section on the codex which is what I had open for the spells and stuff.

Errr incurus - can we have a rematch?

Sure Hang!

I'll be honest, most of the reason my DP did so well in our games was my complete inability to roll lower than a 4 on every single one of his armour saves!

Slaanesh protects the pretty face

We did come to the conclusion that the starcannon was MUCH more usefull against MEQ

Did you treat your DP's attack in cc as Power Weapons?

Oh yes he did!

Although the Farseer/Warlock bodyguard don't have armour saves, they have inv save, so i'm not sure if that made much difference.

Me not rolling an extra 4 dice in cc, made quite a bit of difference though.

Forgetting about empower for the entire first game + 4 extra dice would have made a LOT of difference
