What else do you know about it?
Never heard of this format, but my guess would be,
All games are Annihilation,
there is a points reward for killing certain units,
possably your army retains losses throughout the tournament in some form.

There was an old game mode called Meatgrinder in the 4th ed Rulebook. Basically the Attackers had to attack until there are no more forces under the Defending player's control (reserves too). Whenever an Attacker's Troop Choice unit is destroyed, it can be recycled and come back a la Chenkov's rule. Vehicles do not return however. The Defenders win if there's anything left under his control at the end of the game (which the number of turns is random).
Maybe it's a tournament with only those type of missions?

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Meatgrinder is simply the name of the tournament and not a reference to the old 40k scenario. I started it 3 years ago in the Raleigh area but since it was never intended to be affiliated with any one store (I manage to get us prize support from independent sources - much like the one I threw at Roth Brewery), I had to give it a name. Thus was born the Meatgrinder. After this year, I think every year we will try to give away one painted army as a prize. This year's was donated by a gamer in our area but I think if I collect stuff for a few month's between our local gaming groups, the burden won't fall on one player. Maybe next year will be Necrons, since a new codex is coming out I hope. So the tournament you are asking about is The Meatgrinder 3.0 and the one in April will be The Meatgrinder 3.1. Next year's army give away will probably be Meatgrinder 4.0, etc . .
Hope that answers your questions Shenra.
