..only question is how long before it is retired again!

The most produced Cruiser tank the European theatre! Armed with a potent 75mm gun and with good cross country performance this vehicle was more than a match for the venerable Panzer IV! Though sadly it was still outclassed by the German “Big Cats”! Cromwells were used in the 7th armoured division and in the armoured recce regts of the Guards and 11th Armoured Divisions. Even the 6th Airborne armoured recce regt acquired about 8 Cromwells in Normandy and kept hold of them during the Winter fighting in “The Bulge”.

Contents:
* One Cromwell Mk IV tank
* Resin hull/tracks and turret
* Metal machine guns, lights, spotlight, shackles, main gun barrel and opening commanders and drivers hatches.

It can be found here for £20.00 / €23.79 / $30.88

As with most of their vehicle range, the molds seem to deteriorate at an extraordinary rate (That or they make massive sales, which seems the likely suspect judging from their excellent prices). I guess unlike Forge World they care about the quality of their products.

For those interested: the kit has been pulled from the site again!

I bought their British Universal Carrier...must have been 4-5 years ago when there was some talk of starting skirmish scale WW2 with some friends.
It was complete garbage. Half the rivets were air bubbles, and this model has a lot of rivets. The detail was grainy, just really a terrible, terrible cast that would have required a huge amount of work to make usable. I come across it in my mini boxes every so often and hiss instinctually at it.
Given that this was before the move to Warlord I'd assume that a lot of their resin kits need some serious maintenance.

Having checked their forums they pull their kits from the site all the time because of quality control and the rates at which their resin molds deteriorate. I'm beginning to fear that my delayed order might be cancelled as the STuG III kits have all been pulled from the site.

Nice looking tank. Good detail for resin, could easily be mistaken for a scale plastic kit.

Resin is generally seen at better for detail than plastic, although the gap between the two has been thinning in the last couple years.

That's a nice tank; shame it'll be a while before it's available again.

Resin can do extremely good detail.

It isn't good for mass production, or for large complex models, and it's more brittle than polystyrene, so it is not an ideal choice for making pieces for the tabletop.

After checking their range last night a lot of the recently released vehicles have been pulled once more, not to mention their entire Russian tank line and the newish the Polish tankettes.

This is one reason if I was playing FoW I would rather use 1/72 scale model kits.

Got to agree with that sentiment, it would be a great excuse to break out the old Airfix and Matchbox kits again.

1/72 models are great and cheap for WW2 gaming. For FoW, they fit on the bases just fine, too ;-)

As to the Cromwell: NEAT! Does anybody know how it stacks up to a GW IG cadian? I would love to roll out a British armored company in 40k! Cromwells as russes, Priests as Basilisks, etc.

I'm still waiting on my Bolt Action STuG III to arrive (fat chance of that now) but the basic Bolt Action infantry model is true scale 28mm, so they will look smaller alongside the oddly proportioned mutants of Heroics scale.

edit.

Okay, got my STuG just now and either they are a whole lot smaller than in the pictures or they always were that small. Anyway, it is dwarfed by a Chimera and even my Tauros Venator.

I was afraid of that :-( Unfortunately, GW is closer to 32mm and even 1/35 vehicles sometimes fit!

Yea remember GW kits are stupidly scaled (giant guns, small frames etc)

Anything true scale would look tiny or huge (aircraft models are quite large)

Yea, I have picked up other 25mm tanks and stuff here and there, and they are REALLY small compared to GW stuff. One should bear in mind that modern tanks are only ~7 feet tall give or take, not 12 feet like most GW models
It also seems that our perceptions of how big vehicles are can be a bit skewed in real life. I was thinking about this the other day while I cleaned snow off the top of my mini van. I can pretty easily see over the top of it even though I am only 6' tall, but it is still a pretty big and roomy vehicle. In perspective, that means that a 25mm model of me should be taller than the car, which would look really weird on the table top from an isometric angle. I know logically that my car is a lot bigger than I am, but from that angle it looks smaller. I think that's the same issue people have with Rhino's being "out of scale".

Tanks are one of those cases which strangely defies accurate mental perception of size.

For instance, the height of the T34/85 is a bare eight feet.

It's only a medium tank, quite light by modern standards. It doesn't sound that big. Bigger than a car, of course, but not hugely bigger than a Transit van maybe.

Yet when you go to a tank museum and stand next to one, it's a fething big bugger of a machine! You really don't want to see one of them charging at you.

If you have a look inside, though, the crew quarters are pretty cramped.

Mmmyes.

The basic problem is that a lot of GW "heroic" figures have the bulk and proportions of a 1/35th scale model but shorter legs and arms. The weapons tend to be much larger.

This makes the GW models look too bulky to fit inside their vehicles.

It's shame the ranges don't go togetherl, I've been tempted to get a box or two of Victrix Napoleonic models for Rogue Trader purposes, but I'm against the PC's slaughtering child soldiers, no matter how smartly dressed they are.
