I'm not really familiar with the mechanics of reserve. I get that you start off the board and roll for each unit coming on second turn on a 4+ and so on. Does a unit in reserve start at the edge of the table and then can't move that turn or what. It says make the movement like you're just off the table so what I have been doing to putting the model right off the table and moving half the distance, but I have no idea.

They indeed just come onto the edge without being able to do anything else (other than shoot or run). Reserve will generally protect any rear-line units from damage since they technically do not "exist" yet. However when they enter is entirely based on luck, and assault troops should only be in reserve to either outflank or deepstrike, never coming on from the table edge.
EDIT: Also the blurp about "just as if they had pursued a unit off the table" thing is only to indicate that they count as having made their full movement for that turn, meaning they count as having moved for the purpose of firing weapons, and any other effects that specifies moving.

When units arrive from reserve pretend the front of the base or hull is right up against the table edge and measure and move as normal. The unit must move fully onto the board using its normal movement distance.

So you either move from the length the of base or hull off the table or you have made a full movement. Do you guys know of an FAQ, ERRATA or other place I could find something that specifies?

Reread the rules and I misunderstood about the moving part. However Raxmei got it head on. What the rules effectively mean is, you basically can deploy them anywhere within 6 inches of your side of the board (or 12 inches for Jump infantry and Bikes, and so on for other movement variables). In essence, treat the movement distance as the deployment zone for the unit.

I'm not sure what's confusing you.
Whenever you move a unit, you measure from the front of its base, or the front of its hull for a vehicle.
When you move a unit on from reserves, you measure from the table edge, as if the edge of the base or front of the hull had been RIGHT at the edge when the unit started its move. You do have to move the unit fully onto the table, but otherwise it's a totally normal move.

Mecha - there is no prohibition about assaulting, shooting or runnin gthe turn you arrive from reserve. Specific *methods* of arriving from reserve, such as deepstrike, may add these restrictions, but not in general. You may be thinking of Fantasy, where you cannot declare a charge as you arrive on the board in Remaining Moves, after the Decalre Charges subphase.
So as Mann says: Imagine the front of your base is flush with the table edge, and measure your 6" (etc) move from here. You can make your FULL movement rate as well, so not sure why you have been moving half.
Once you have moved onto the board, and you MUST move fully on (Read the BRB FAQ for confirmation of this) otherwise you are destroyed, you are then free to shoot (having moved, so normally you cant fire Heavy weapons) or run, and then you can assault if able.

No - don't 'treat it as the deployment zone' or anything silly like that. They make a normal move from the board edge - i.e. they can be affected by difficult terrain, etc. They can then shoot, or run, or assault or otherwise act exactly like any other unit. The only prohibition against assaulting is if one arrives via Deep Strike.

Thanks for the input guys that makes sense and how I was playing it by putting the front of the base or hull at the edge of the table and making the movements from there it was just a little vague in the rule book so I wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

So just to be 100% (for my clarification please ) , if a unit outflanks and appears on say the left side of the board, they move the 6" on, then can assault 6" ?
Excellent...

I confirm your statement. That is legal (and good strategy).
Also, if they have fleet, feel free to have them run for up to 6" more.

My friends were the ones who told me I couldnt charge after moving onto the board. Then again if I had, he would have lost (20 Genestealers appearing outta nowhere right beside his Immortals).

I do something similar with Harker and his Vets with 3 Flamers and giving them the Demolitions doctrine, they are not a hard HtH crew but coming in from the short edge in the DZ firing 3 templates and hurling a demo charge wrecks a lot of unit's days. including the 10 Meltabombs wrecks vehicle's days.

I occasionally use a unit (or two) of Chosen with a 2/3 mix (either way) of flamers and meltaguns. The flamers are particularly nasty in combination with lash. I've done ~45 hits to a unit of Orks on more than one occasion.
