Battlefleet Gothic has become more popular in the area. I've started a Necron fleet because I thought the shoot looked cool(what can I say? I like Stargate SG-1.) and people are calling me a powergamer(in a nice way). I've played two games so far and I have yet to see how they are broken.

Both games(one VS Imperials, one VS SMs), my Jackels and Shroud got blown away and my Scythes caused a fair bit of damage, but didn't really kill anything and were eventually shot to pieces.

Sure, Necrons seem rather resilient, but they don't have any true shields, fighters, bombers, or torpedoes.

I've had a couple of people tell me it's their Brace for Impact special rule, but then they are just acting like Eldar and have half firepower.

I've had another complain about their extreme All Ahead Full. Again, half firepower and I don't see how it gets your ships out of trouble.

Don't run the escorts and max out on tombships. Then, brace for impact for 2+ saves -- even at half your firepower you'll still come out way ahead on the deal.

I've seen necrons easily shred twice their point value of IN and Chaos in game.

Plus, for old time BFG gamers they may be thinking in terms of the first version of the Necron rules that were promulgated in the old BFG magazine. Those rules were substantially less balanced than the ones that made it into Armada.

In reality, Necrons also face a bit of a disadvantage in that their ships cost so much. I've heard of players focusing on taking out one really expensive Necron ship, and then disengaging and winning the battle based on VP.

PS - I see in your sig that you play up at the GW Springfield...do you ever get down to Eagle & Empire? I play there on most Fridays, and would love to get a game of BFG in some time.

2x Scythes is better then 1x Tombship

The small escorts are often avoided. The Shroud is never taken.

That is what powergamers do.

I currently have 1 Tombship(just put it together), 2 Scythes, 1 Shroud, and 8 Jackels.

Why shouldn't the Shroud ever be taken? That Ld boost was very nice in my games.

I don't go to E&E that often, Ruckdog, but I do know where it is. I'd love to get some BFG games with you in, but I'm a bit of noob still. Send a PM the when you want to set something up.

Shroud is easy vps to the enemy.
