What is the best way to arm either squad in a blob IG army? Would they even travel on foot or are they still thrown in chimeras?

Don't bother they're fine at 30pts

but I also like 4 flamers in a valk/ven. You get a warm feeling as they devastate an ork mob

If on foot?

4 gl or 4 flamer is my preference.

A foot army benefits from being ALL foot because you have just made all of the other guy's AT weapons wasted points. You can go mixed mech, but with a few tanks, every AT gun on the board is aimed at them and they won't last long usually.

Mounted?

4 flamers in a chimera is a fantastic unit. 30 points in a vendetta is a nice scoring upgrade, too.

England.

4 meltas. Because if you're running aggressive foot guard you need to pop transports and stop dreads. 4 meltas gives 2 hits same as a melta vet squad and is only 70 points.
Flamers are ok but anti-infantry is usually adequately dealt with by a bayonet charge or FRFSRF. Grenade launchers have a range advantage but just aren't as useful as meltas imo.

Same goes for CCS. They only really need 3 meltas due to BiD so you can give the last guy a standard or something like that

That's a good point, Yani. They can be very useful in Footguard in that role. However, I run the meltas in my aggressive, mobile blob squads because they are much harder to neutralize that way. A 5 man squad with 4 meltas in a footguard list consisting of huge blob squads is going to be a high target priority because it is easily destroyed. That is why I go for the GL or flamer as they become less of an obvious target.

I don't put meltas on my CCS in footguard because the army as a whole really benefits from orders. When you have a blob with 5 auto or las cannons, that order is giving you a much bigger benefit. I keep my CCS out of harms way with camo cloaks and maybe a mortar or a.cannon.

Generally in footguard all my important weapons are in the blobs for increased resiliency. Either a shooting blob or an assault blob. One with las or auto, the other with power weapons and meltas/flamers.

YMMV.

I give them 3 meltas myself. Power blobs can hold their own against a lot of pain, but there are some things that it can still be uncomfortable to get into close combat - dreadnoughts and wraithlord among them. The melta is good against targets that the blobs can struggle against.

Also, it lets you shoot at transports and then assault what got out.

Otherwise, I guess I'd consider plasma, or for the CCS a lascannon+MoO or something, if you already know he's not going to be moving.

Five or Six T3 models with 5+ save ... unless you also face some thing I1 or worse he'll never swing Powerfist ... Take guns or don't bother equipping them number of times people will just ignore 5 guard

This. These?

The only thing is that I'd make sure to actually take weapons. The option to take that many specials (even with BS 3) is not to be ignored. They're a target, but then that's because they're so capable.

Look down, back up, where are you? You're scrolling through comments, finding the ones that your comment could look like. Back at mine, what is it? It's a highly effective counter-troll. I like PCS with four flamers in a Vendetta to make it scoring, and have a unit very capable of dealing with infantry stragglers (and can order itself to go to ground for a 2+ cover save), all for 50 points.

If I'm fielding multiple PCSs or am short on meltas elsewhere, I'll take a unit with 4 meltas. If it's Al'Raheem, I replace one of the meltas with a vox caster.

@1000pts

I field my CCS with 1x Lascannon and 2x Plasma on foot, to anchor my line with a 21man GLAC Blob.

Then I have 2x PCS, one armed with 4x Flamer to support an objective grabbing power blob and the other with 4x MG in a chimera as a rapid reaction force.

I have found this basic set up to have worked well up to 1250pts and do nit see why this would not be a god basis for a larger force.
