So, something came up in a gome yesterday. A Marine with a Thunderhammer hit a Dreadnought (a type of Walker), penetrated it's armor, and cause a 'Weapon Destroyed' result. There was some debate on what else was supposed to happen.
The rule for Thunder Hammers states that "against models who suffered an unsaved wound" the model is reduced to I:1, and " vehicles with no initiative value" are shaken.
Dreadnoughts, being vehicles, do not suffer wounds, and have an initiative value. Do Thunder Hammers have any additional effect on Dreadnoughts, Sentinels, or any other kind of Walker?

Nothing at all vs walkers.
Which is really represented by the other rules/fluff as well; you can't exactly send a 1 ton+ walking tank "reeling"; and shaken results have no effect whatsoever on walkers in CC(and not destroying the walker with your I1 t-hammer would keep you locked in CC).

Doesn't it say somewhere in the BRB that each roll on the Vehicle Damage table counts as a wound?
Thus, a Thammer would make a walker go at I1 the next turn...

Honestly though, most results on the damage table (aka anything but stunned/shaken) are really bad for walkers. They'll be down to 1 attack and no armour ignoring weapons pretty quickly, sometimes with one result (for standard dreadnoughts).

Armbarred - as pointed out this is only for determining combat resolution, nothing more.

For fluff reasons, I'd argue that they should count as shaken.
But, there's no rules indicating that is the case. So, no special affect from a Thunder Hammer on Walkers.

As I pointed out Grak: go ahead and count them as shaken; the net effect is the same: does nothing; check walkers and assaults page 73 of the brb 5th paragraph. Although, as stated, the RAW says it doesn't count as shaken; likely because it has 0 effect.

Well, it could actually matter. Say a Dread is in CC with a unit that includes a Thunder Hammer. The Dread kills most of the squad, but the Thunder Hammer model survives and manages to get a penetrating hit.
The Dread ends up winning combat and through combat resolution, ends up wiping out the remaining model with a thunder hammer (either because it runs or because of No Retreat!). Now, on the next turn, whether or not the Dread has been shaken matters a great deal.
But, yeah, this is all academic since the Dread is clearly not Shaken according to the rules.

It is a bit odd; one would think that it would Shake the dread like any other vehicle. That being said, the rules are clear that it doesn't.

Aren't there rules for apocalypse SM terminator with thunderhammers designed to kill titans, also supported by fluff, so i think those hammers are strong enough to send a 1 ton+ walking tank "reeling"

Tmonster: yes and no. The titan hammer formation gains no extra benefit vs titans and even the fluff says that the termies needed to make a great many strikes at the most vulnerable spots on the titans.
The only real benefit of the formation is the free vortex grenade(which would otherwise cost a strategy point)

yes but an IG sentinel is not as sturdy as a Hellhound, so if you know they can break a titan, they will surely break a sentinel.
