I like the base, i would add a little more detail to all that black on there, or some highlights

That's really, really dull and unfinished looking. Two panels of flat blue over black primer is really boring to look at. A black-heavy colorscheme can work, but you need highlights. Find a dark grey and carefully paint along the edges of the armor where you see fit. Edge highlights can make a very simple scheme look good. That blue is a little too saturated though; it's bright and garish. Try something closer to a Shadow Grey for a muted blue-grey.
