RULES FOR WARHAMMER 40K TOURNAMENT

Rule Books:
The Warhammer 40,000 Fifth Edition Rules will be used.

The following is a list of legal army choices:
Codex: Black Templars
Codex: Blood Angels
Codex: Chaos Daemons
Codex: Chaos Space Marines
Codex: Daemonhunters
Codex: Dark Angels
Codex: Dark Eldar
Codex: Eldar
Codex: Imperial Guard
Codex: Necrons
Codex: Orks
Codex: Space Marines
Codex: Space Wolves
Codex: Tau
Kroot Mercenaries
Codex: Tyranids
Codex: Witchhunters

MODELS AND POINTS:

1. Each player must bring an army consisting of 1850 points or fewer, in accordance with these rules.

2. All models must follow “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG). All weapons, war gear, and so forth must be represented on the model.

3. Forge World Imperial Armor units (and army lists) may NOT be used.  Forge world models may be used where appropriate, however.

4. We will require that each player submits an itemized army list to a Battleground Tournament Organizer on or before February 12th, 2011 (roughly a week before the event).  An Army Builder .pdf is preferred but a detailed text file is acceptable.

Please email lists to ChaseLaq@gmail.com as soon as they are finalized.

5. If illegal units or other rules violations are found in a player’s army list, at a minimum,
the models in violation will be removed from all subsequent play. In addition, tournament points may be deducted and/or award eligibility may be forfeited. If in doubt, please ask for clarification in advance from a Battleground Tournament Organizer.

The scenarios we will be using for the event will be the 2010 Adepticon Championship Missions.

The scenarios can be found here.

HOW THE TOURNAMENT WORKS:

• Competitors will participate in three (3) games over the course of the day. In each game, you
will play a scenario and record the outcome of the battle on your results sheet. Each round you
will play a different opponent.  Each round will last 2.5 hours.

• In the first round, players will be matched up randomly. After the first round, players will be
matched up according to current rankings in the tournament (Battle Points + Other Conditional Point Modifiers - presented in each scenario) e.g., the player in first place will play the player in second place and so on. We will try our best not to pair players that come to the event together in the first round. If a player receives a BYE they will be awarded the average of the winning teams points for the round.

• You will not play the same person twice.

• We will do our best to prevent a player from playing on the same table twice.

• The pairings for each round will be announced as soon as they are determined. Please be sure to
arrive at your table ready to play right away. We ask that each player be conscious of the
time and that you play at a regular and steady pace to complete the game. Anyone found slow
playing or deliberately stalling for any reason will be penalized.

• Each game will be played on a 4' x 6' board.

• Players will receive Results Sheets at the beginning of each round. Each results sheet must be filled in properly to ensure that match-ups and point totals are correct. Once Results Sheets are completed they are to be turned in at the counter so the scores can be entered into the computer.

BATTLES:

The Fifth Edition Rulebook will be in use for all games and will be the definitive guide
for all rules. The time limit for each game is 2.5 hours. At the end of this time limit, the round will be called; all players will need to finish their game immediately, and no additional time will be provided.

We will be using the GW Errata and FAQ for this event.

What You Need to Bring with You:
-Your (hopefully painted) miniatures
-At least TWO copies of your army list
-Rulebooks are required as are any additional books you need
-Pen and paper
-Dice and templates
-Tape measure
-Something to transport your army from table to table

Store Credit Awards will be given out to:
Store credit is good for any product in the store and all subsequent events.  It never expires and will be saved for you.

Best Generals
Second Best Generals
Third Best Generals (only awarded if the turnout is large)
Best Theme / Comp / Sportsmanship
Best Painted

Note:  a player may only win one award.

Please post any questions or comments here.

I'm a big fan of the Adepticon scenarios and use them whenever possible. I feel that they are often a lot more dynamic than most and encourage playing more than just a super straight forward game.

With that said, the 1v1 scenarios are quite a bit more straight forward than the Team scenarios, but they'll do.

If you decide you'd like to play shoot me an email ASAP.

The event is about 55% full at this moment.

I'm debating hard core on this. I really want too, but it's been soo long since I have done a tourney.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Shouldn't it be Codex: Tau Empire (4th Ed) that's being used and not Codex: Tau (3rd Ed?)

Chap,

Chase uses the most recent Tau Codex if it says 3rd then most likely its just a typo. ALL current codexes are used for this event.

Emp,

Please come would love to talk to you about Boston Brawl 2011.

FYI to all,

Chase runs a great event and the store in Plainsville is really clean and has some super great space. Terrain is top notch. I would recommend this for anyone looking to have a good time and play on great tables.

Already got the confirmation email last night, I will be there. I am rather excited as this is my first 40k tourney (or well any really...minus what I ran) I have done since adepticon last year.

The event is almost full. I'd love to see the last few spots rounded out by some non-regulars from the general area.

Come down, hang out, roll some dice, and blow stuff up!

You should feel special... the fact that this envigorated me to build a whole new army in 5 weeks says a lot. I have heard nothing but good things about your shop from people since I moved to mass so I dare say I am extremely excited.

I got on the list as well yesterday. I don't think I'll have a new army ready for it, but I've been working on some freehand for my primary tournament army...

That's right! Please email them to ChaseLaq@gmail.com

I would prefer they be sent as an Army Builder generated .pdf but if that is not an option you can just send a detailed, itemized, .txt file.

Thanks guys, I'm looking forward to meeting some of the new players (to the store) that are coming out for this one.

Awesome tournament, guys!

Had a really great time; three great opponents, including Grimwulfe! It was cool hanging out with and chatting with all of you guys who posted in this thread.

Sean, sorry I edged you out and made you the bubble boy for prizes. Still, two Cold Steel Mercs in the top 5 is pretty good.

Chase, you guys run a good event! My bad on the scenarios; I can see above you DID say 2010; for some reason I originally read it as 2011 and was looking forward to practicing on the Primer scenarios for THIS year, but that's apparently because I need to L2R.
