You see, electricity is just this magic substance that we really no nothing about, does what it wants, and when it does what we want it to we think its pretty cool.

Might have been cool for awhile, but those who could weild magic would overpower those without, causing class seperations and envy, eventually civil unrest.
Eventually someone would cast a spell to powerful for them to control, which would wreak havoc, turning the planet into millions of brightly colored silk handkerchiefs.

I think we would of mixed technology with magic, other then that probably not to much different

Like the "Bartimaeus" trilogy, those with magic would have most of the power in the world, until civil unrest (and possibly an evolved resistance to magic) lead to a revolution. Read those books, they're good, and about that topic.

I think someone would've gone "Cool, I can do magic!" tried something too big and blown up the world, leaving the Earth as nothing more than a giant conflagration.

Either that or it'd be cool if everyone had the same powers (everyone has the Loremaster special rule of course) and power levels (all Level 4). You could be the most evil person ever and have everything countered by one other person (MOAR DISPEL SCROLLS!). Everyone would live in peace. Want more land? Magic it up. Want a drink? Magic it up. Want some toast? Magic it up.

Instead of date rape there would be enchant rape...
