If an O&G BSB with banner of eternal flame is in a unit of Night Goblins and said unit released fanatics at enemy (lets say HPA) will:

A: Fanatics are not flaming attacks
B: Fanatics have flaming attacks turn of release only
C: Fanatics have flaming attacks for rest of game.


My pick would be B but a very competent arguement could be made for A.

The answer is A. Think of it this way - if a hero charged out of the unit, would it have flaming attacks? As soon as you are not part of the unit, you no longer have flaming attacks...

I can see someone arguing B, but I think it's reaching to call the fanatics a art of the unit. I'll have to take a gander at the exact wording of the fanatics in the O&G book, though.

I'd agree with Killjoy. The only way I could see it having flaming attacks on the turn of release is if it counted as a ranged attack on the turn of release and then turned into a separate unit in subsequent terms. To my knowledge it is not worded like that; it is a separate unit at the moment of release from its host unit.

I would lean towards a more lenient argument if the O&G player was willing to go through a little song and dance to convince me.

Fanatics, once released, are always a seperate unit from the parent goblins.

Prior to their release they dont exist "within" the goblin unit, s odont have any attacks, never mind flaming ones

Once they leave the unit, they're no longer affected by the banner so I'd say A.

They dont even exist while "in" the unit - they are not a part of it

WHile burning fanatics has a highly amusing thought to it, it doesnt look like it could happen

If somebody modeled up 3 fanatics covered in flames, I'd let him do it, even though the rules don't support it.

Well, I sure wouldn't. I'm all for a good chuckle and everything, but I'm not about to lose my 250pt model to a total of 75pts...

Of course, I'd support it while playing Brettonians, so the Fanatics would cause Fear in my knight's horses (and why don't they anyway? The Warhammer world is a bad place to be a horse. Or anything, for that matter. Except a daemon).
