Well, i've finally joined after a coupe of months viewing and must say this whole site is pretty awesome!!! You guys are doing a great job.

I'm from the sunny old united kingdom! So imagine i must be across the pond from most of you!

I used to play 40k some years ago about 10 years and was a miss match I had Space Marines (like everyone else does) also had a dabble with Necrons, Dark Eldar and Tau all when they first came out but never found anything that stuck.

Thats the problem I have now I would love to get back into the hobby I have 2 GW shops within about 10miles from where I live so should be ok on that front but I just cannot decide which army i want to get my teeth into!!

I love the look of Tyranids, Imperial Guard and the New Dark Eldar Range.

I really want something different to the norm or Space Marines but not something I need to rely on a lot of tanks I prefer the more organic filled army.

I also prefer the painting and modelling to the playing but would like something that if I do play can be pretty forgiving as I'm bound to be pretty rubbish! Any suggestions on armies to check out would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Dakka, Bymis Have a good stay.

If you're looking for a meat-grinder list, then Tyranids (guant spam), Imperial Guard (Powerblobs) and Orks (Green Tide) are for you

Thanks All!!

I'm going to create an excel sheet soon for my pros and cons as I cannot choose between any of the armies!!!! 40k is so hard and i'm finding the hardest thing is picking the army to start with!!

The more i look at each army the more I want it, at this rate i'll have a small force of every army!!

I'm thinking of getting down to my local GW and see what sells the most and avoid it then see when they run small games etc see if I can get a small skirmish in and see how I actually play (anyone near Hereford UK give me a PM if you've got 2 army's and want to show me the ropes!!)

Thanks like your Sig, surely you feel some bond with the IG based their pretty much british / american style troops?

I love the fact you can have 100's of minis in a smallish sized army give you some uber fire power and then tanks they have a cool as also!!

Still can't decide for sure i'm about 60% IG 25% DE and 15% Tyranids!!
