Happy New Year-

It is with great pleasure that I send out the announcement that QCR 2011 registration is now open.

QCR this year will be the weekend of June 24th at Fort Mason, San Francisco. We have 104 spots available, and registration is open now. In order to register you need to email Michael Hengl at Quakecityrumble@yahoo.com with your name, email address, the army you will be playing, and any club you are associated with. Registration is $68 via PayPal, or $65 via check. In order to PayPal, send the money to QuakeCityRumble@yahoo.com. If you’d like to pay via check, please make the check payable to Michael Hengl and send it to 4707 Edgewood Ave, Oakland, CA, 94602. Remember, the first sixty people who register and pay will get a free 2011 QCR Commemorative Pint Glass, as well as all the beer they can drink until our beer runs out. Its first pay first serve, so get your money in ASAP as we usually fill up very fast.

This will be Ed Phillips and my second year running the tourney and long time veteran co-chair, Derek Wiswell will be returning provide his valuable experience. Many others from Ld2 are also hard at work to make sure that 2011 is as successful as last year.

We are busy revamping the scenarios to fit 8th edition. A full post of the rules can be found on Leadership2.org, but some highlights:

· 8th Edition, plus official GW Errata

· 2500 points

· No special/named characters.

· Banned: Power Scroll, Book of Hoeth

· Terrain:

o Hills block LOS for non-Large models and are not difficult ground. Forests follow standard BRB LoS rules.

o Unit cap of 30 infantry models for entering a building (any unit can still assault one though).

o No fixed terrain. Instead, players take turns placing terrain (and must use all pieces on the table) each game.

o Mysterious forests will be used, but no other “special” features. Other terrain will play as normal type.

Once again, there will be a Warbands Tournament on Friday night. Rules are in the works and will be posted by Feb. 01. This will start at 8 pm to allow participants to get into town and run until 11:30. Please let me know when you register if you plan on participating.

Finally, army lists are due May 24th . Please get them to us in a timely fashion, and make certain to send them as an army builder text SUMMARY file (File --> Save as Text Summary in army builder) a Word file, or an Excel file. NO STANDARD ARMY BUILDER FILES PLEASE! You can email those to Derek Wiswell at derekwiswell@gmail.com at your earliest convenience

That’s it for now. If you want more information feel free to visit our website at Leadership2.org, or shoot me an email. We’ll have more announcements and updates to make as the date gets closer, but until then enjoy the new year and keep those paint brushes busy!

Anyone go last year?

This is right in my backyard, so I should go, but I'm immediately skittish when I see changes like banned items & 7e Hills being imported into an 8e tournament.

I've heard they put on a good tournament. But i've never attended as it's fantasy only and I've been kinda down on fantasy since the middle of 7th. And oddly haven't felt the urge to pick up 8th yet....though that might change since there is a local tournament once a month round here.

Hey Kids,

This is THE tournament. (IMHO)

I've been to all of them starting way back in 2006. The beer flows, the slag is the largest I've even seen at most tournaments.

The Leadership 2 guys put on a great beer chugging show. Did I say anything about the Beer Wench? She brings beer to you. Did I say the serve beer? I should say something about that.

The competition is first class and they get players from all over the WORLD to come to this event.

Now, all that being said there are some things you just need to wrap your head around. Comp & Paint are judged very differently here than in other venues, but after all these years I've only every had one disagreement with my comp score.

So, if you play Fantasy (sorry Hulk) and you enjoy fun times in San Francisco then sign up, I'll be there once again.

Doc Dragon, do you know the TO?

Great escape games STILL has not said yes or no on letting us host out 40K GT event at their location for some reason despite my calls and emails.

Maybe we could piggyback with these guys if it is logistically possible. That way they could have a 40K event as well, and we could increase their ticket sales to mitigate rental costs.

Reece,
Mike Hengl is the main TO for QCR. Its unlikely you would be able to piggyback as they already have serious space concerns (they were considering relocating because their 104 man GT almost always sells out within a couple weeks), but it would not hurt to ask. There are a number of points of contact on their webpage, but Mike is the best one to speak to (Derrek would not be a bad guy to talk to, either) on the subject.

OK, thanks Q and Doc. I appreciate the info. I will shoot him an email and see. Maybe at the least he can give me some tips on finding an affordable venue as every place I have called has been out of our budget for the first year.

Well, sounds like a great event, hope you guys have a good time.
