Mr Abnett has achieved something noteworthy as his latest book, Prospero Burns, will be listed in the paperback best sellers MM fiction section in the New York times book review- this Sunday the 16th. This is a first for the Black Library!

It is pretty cool to see BL reaching mainstream recognition!

It wasn't my favorite Abnett or Heresy book, but this is indeed good news, and deserving of congratulations! Yay BL!

I know at least two other BL books that reached the NY Times best seller list: both Thousand Sons (#22) and First Heretic (#28).

Prospero Burns is the first BL novel to break the top #20 AND be printed in the NY Times book review (according to the BL website).

Despite personally not liking the novel, this is good to hear and Dan certainly deserves it.

I'm about 2/3 into it and lovinig it so far.

I will be VERY interested to read this review though, as this is the what?... 13th or 14th HH series book?

How in the world is the reviewer going to even set the scene for this book without coming across as extremely condescending and dismissive or simply sell it short?

Was the book just a retelling of Thousand Sons?

Not at all. It's very definitively a Space Wolves book. It reads (imho) a lot like a Nordic saga for most of the book. Towards the end, there's a little more standard HH series-style fluff (when the Vlka Fenryka are interacting with the other Legions).

Good news though about the NY Times thing. Dan Abnett certainly deserves it.

Very nice!

And yeah, Prospero Burns is really rather good. Excellent insight into what makes the Space Wolves tick, and far better than some online have mentioned. I'm not out to say they are being overly critical, just that I seriously enjoyed it, so perhaps it's a bit Marmite.

I'm just getting to the end of it and really enjoyed it, even though I'd read a comment about it on Amazon and it had me slightly worried, but no it's really good. I actually think it works well what he's done, it gives the story a purpose rather than staight SW tale. Love how he's portrayed the SW's as well. It nearly made me think about rushing out and buy a squad to paint again... but then I remembered I'd be disappointed as the models are too cartoony to be able to match them to the fluff.

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.
