Subject: Needing Lizardmen army reviews. (edited)

I have just become interested in warhammer and I am planning to start a Lizardmen army.
However I have no real experience in these games so I need advice.
I want my army to be fun and diverse.
I also really like the magic system, it seems a lot of fun.
But I also want my army to be actually playable.
So please review these armies, and tell me what does not work, what is useless and what is needed.
Please be in mind that, the main purpose of my armies are to be fun to paint, so versatility is the most important thing.
I am planning to buy them liitle by little as I paint them.
(This list has been edited with the advices that I have received.)

on the 2k list:
-slaan cannot take magic shields
-saurus cannot have just some spears, its either all or nothing
i would drop tetteko, the lizardmen SC's as a whole are really really REALLY overpriced. you can get a kitted out scarvet or 2 in there for that cost. and since you have a slaan in the list, he will be doing the most of the casting.
i would get champs in the blocks to deter challenges, i would also drop the terredons and get a second unit fo cham skinkis in there, since you dont have any skink skirmishers in core.

Yeah, you can't give only some of a unit spears. Has to be all of them. Also, on your 2000 point list, your general can't also be your BSB. If you change Tette'eko for a normal heroes, you can make one a BSB. Unless that is a Lizardman thing, I don't play them.

Ill fix the battle standarts and spears later, thank you.
But why cant slaan take magic shields?
I thought that Tette'eko was pretty good with his "Herald of cosmic Events" which makes all Lore of Heaven spells irresistible.
I was thinking of making also my slaan take Lore of Heavens with Tette'eko.

I haven't looked very closely at the lists, but I did notice that you listed individual point costs. I don't think we are allowed to do that, so you might want to go back to your original post and remove all the individual points. You can leave a total cost like;
Saurus warriors x10 with full command = 140
|
dwarfs, wood elves, dark elves, bretonnians, WOC,
space wolves, orks, eldar |
|

Are you sure that it is not allowed?
I am new to these forums but I have not seen any rules about this.

I found this in the 40k section when posting army lists.
When you post your lists for dissection here the total points value and costs of the individual units are fine to list, but please refrain from listing the cost of each and every upgrade.
So
10 Marines
Heavy bolter
Flamer
Powerfist XXX points is fine.
What we don't want is
10 Marines YY points
Heavy bolter YY points
Flamer YY points
Powerfist YY points.
This applies for vehicles, psychic powers, extra weapons etc etc.
If in doubt, leave it out.
Thank you.

Aside from being against forum rules (its actually a GW rule really, no posting exact points costs of upgrades), the way you have formatted your lists make them very hard to read. The dots everywhere break things up when they don't need to be. A Slann can legally be the BSB, its a rare exception to the rule that the General can't be the BSB. However he can't take a magic shield because he doesn't have any options to take a normal shield (or indeed armour of any kind so he can't take magic armour). Like all the Lizardmen SCs, Tette’eko is overpriced for what he does, particularly at 2000pts when you already have a Slann who will use all the dice anyway. He is one of the more usuable SCs though, you can possibly build some interesting double/triple Comet lists at 2400/2500pts with him but at 2000 and running a Life/Rumination Slann he isn't worth it. Aside from the Spears issue which has already been mentioned, 21 is a very strange number for a Saurus block. 25mm bases are usually run 6 wide to maximise frontage which means 18 or 24 strong tend to be the magic numbers. 21 means you are either running 7 wide (which might work if you are only facing other 25mm infantry armies) or 5 wide with 1 hanging off the back, which isn't efficient. Speaking from experience I can tell you that 10 Skinks is not enough protection for an expensive character as they die incredibly easily. At lower points game I sometimes run a Slann in a unit of skirmishing Skinks, but they need to be 15 strong or so to keep him safe, otherwise its too easy to wipe the whole unit with a mega spell or just drop them low enough so that the character doesn't get a LoS from shooting. Yours are ranked up as well which makes them even easier to deal with and without a Krox in there ranked up Skinks are very unlikely to kill anything either. Temple Guard really need to be more the 10 strong, partly because of the same issue I mentioned above about keeping character safe (although they are harder to kill than Skinks and Life helps manage that) but also because of the 25mm base issue. The Slann takes up 4 spots which means if you can get another 4 TG in there you will have effectively 18 guys for ranking up, 10 strong won't even get 3 complete ranks when 5 wide. Also all your Saurus and TG blocks could really use Champions, its an extra attack and they give you some very helpful options with challenges. The only time I don't take Champions in Saurus block is if I am taking a Scar Vet in the unit instead.

Your 1,000 and 1,500 point lists aren't legal.
Steggadons bought as mounts count in the Hero section, not the special/rare.
In both cases, this puts you over the allowance on heroes.
It's a bit tricky with lizardmen, because you can by the steggadons as both mounts and on their own.

I used the dots becouse this messages dont let me put empty spaces in the beginning of lines.
Core
Saurus Warriors x 10 all 140p
Champion
Musician
Standart Bearer
Core

Thanks, I did not know what are the limits with magical items. Too bad, that magic shield would have been handy with immunity to non-magical attacks.
Like all the Lizardmen SCs, Tette’eko is overpriced for what he does, particularly at 2000pts when you already have a Slann who will use all the dice anyway. I still feel that with Heavens Slann his "Herald of cosmic Events" could be handy
Thank you, these are the kinda little knowledges that I need. Number 21 was just becouse I got easily the requiret 25% core points number filled and becouse I wanted to use everypoint.
That is a good idea. I thought that the Temple guards were expensive meat shield anyway, and I get twice as many Skinks skirmishing and on lot bigger area on the same point cost.
Temple Guard really need to be more the 10 strong, partly because of the same issue I mentioned above about keeping character safe (although they are harder to kill than Skinks and Life helps manage that) but also because of the 25mm base issue. I have been wondering that what is the point in champions becouse you could get an extra warrior for his cost. I try to learn more about challenges and add the champions.
Thank You, these were exatly the kinda advice that I was looking for.

Damnation of dalmatians!
I think the book is quite unclear.
Can I buy the stegadon as special and then move the hero skink priest on it during the game?

If you buy the Stegadon as special then its a unit by itself, it can't be joined by characters.
