I used to have Flamers in earlier versions of this list, but they got scrapped. Their performance was too unreliable and I found them to be too suicidal.

Sure, once every now and then you'd get a pavane of and hit a full unit of Marines with three templates for max damage. Mostly though you scatter some on the drop and/or your opponent placed their troops wel and the Flamers would kill 5 Marines from a 10 men squad only be be obliterated in the following enemy shooting phase.

In my oppinion other units perform more reliable and are more resillient for the same amount of points.

The 105 points I gained for ditching the 3 Flamers is used mostly to pay for 8 Flesh Hounds. To me their impact on the game is potentially much greater.

YMMV of course.

Thing with flamers is, Some times yes they are brilliant to deep strike in right in front of the enimy and flame with, But they also have Warpfire if they are to far away, Assult 3 is a pritty good.

Altho i know what you mean, I started to use my flamers a little more carefully putting them behind buildings and stepping forward with the flamer templates and would generly back them up with a close combat unit to intercept the enimy.

Dont over look them tho mate, Last week i deep striked 6 flamers in, onto 15 terminators and killed 13 of them and killed the last 2 with horrors.

But oviously they have their pros and cons

You really want to find a way to get that Slaanesh Prince Aura for grenades and maybe Musk for speed. I might drop Might on one Fiend and a Flesh Hound to do so.

Otherwise looks fun although a little troop light.

I was skeptical of flamers but I played a team tournament using two 3 man squads and I was thoroughly impressed. They really fill a great gap in the army to kill those rock hard units that you really dont want to assault if you can help it. In our final game hey took out a 10 man walking BT terminator squad and a 16 man walking Initiate/Neophyte BT crusader squad. It broke our opponents back and won us the game. When they did mishap, it was only 100 points and Daemons are used to playing that game already...

Coming off nearby more 'vulnerable' troops with an icon can also help with positioning.
