Hey,

In apoc games, it is possible to field Heavy Weapon Companies, Rough Rider companies, but not Storm Trooper Companies.
Anyone knows if this is possible? If so, can they also be used in lower point games?

Thanks,
Loner

You can just field a bunch of stormtroopers but there is no datasheet.

The closest you can get in smaller games is using grenadiers for your vets.

Yeah must say same to the above statement. I don't know if stormtroopers really work in a company system. In apoc you can just have a ton of stormtroopers and count it as a company.

as far as i know stormtroopers are kinda like hardcore navy seals, or some other highly trained military force that works more on a small unit basis rather than in a platoon or company system. Stormtroopers are sent to help a regiment rather than be part of one and are trained solely by a seperate organization. This would make them be highly sought after units which act as support elements rather than as the main body.

I don't see any reason for an Inquisitor not to have some sort of army of stormtroopers but that would be a very different story since it wouldn't be a company as much as an Inquisiton strikeforce.

Special Forces units rarely operate in entire companies. They're deployed discretely and target key objectives. However there's nothing stopping you from making up your own Datasheet for them, as Apoc is more adaptable than regular 40k. Just clear it with your opponents beforehand.

if there was a datasheet i would try to mimic the way stormtroopers work, so no heavy weapon teams, but rather units trained at certain tasks such as sniper units, special weapon units, specialist at certain type of warfare or at fighting certain enemies, and maybe have an assassain detachment of some sort. that would be interesting.

I think I remember seeing a datasheet for multiple Temple Assassins. That should be similar to what entire companies of Stormtroopers should go after. Otherwise think Space Marines (Space Marines are suppose to be the special forces too, however they seem to swing back and forth from this. They were described as the Scalpel, whereas the guards are the hammer).

Given the random and crazy nature of the 40k universe, I wouldn't put it past the Imperium to field entire companies of the human's own finest warriors in sector where the Astartes are too busy praying or polishing their weapons or something monky like that.

As Sageheart puts it, Storm Troopers are truly Humanity's finest, and the best humans could be used in the Imperial way! Mass wave assaults! A pinpoint strike by about five hundred elite soldiers, firing exact bursts, firing and manoeuvring, covering each other with careful volleys and almost invincible in their carapace suits, that would shatter almost any line of defences, allowing the crushing manpower of the Imperial Guard to slam through!

As a data sheet, maybe make it so that they have some special rule to do with their exact assault, making their guns Assault 2 or something. A special rule to reflect a precision strike would be good, and maybe a platoon system for them? Anywho, I've deviated now...

Sounds cool as an idea, may have to try it at some point, good luck

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas

Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms.

It is pretty good, there is a reason that the base cost of the formation is so high. You could always agree to have a game with it for lower points but it would be very much a "just for fun special game" thing.
