I just got the Space Marine megaforce...

The tactical squad's back packs have a hole straight through some of them... what's that for? Is something supposed to go in there? What then, I can't find anything on the sprues that would go.

i've seen posts about this before, and its generally agreed to be a miscast (not enough plastic in the mold or something)
if you contact GW, they'll probably replace them

I guess I'll call them Monday... should be interesting. Will they send me some more packs? They'll just take my word for it, or will they want me to send them the bad ones first?

They'll take your word for it. At most they'll ask for the batch number on the box.

It's the dernedest thing about those backpack holes: they don't LOOK like mis-casts. They're so clean and even that they look deliberate, and I thought that they were implementing a new customizable thing where you could fit whatever icon or widget or whatever you wanted there.

I thought the same thing. Like the skull was a separate piece you glued in...

so they'll just send some packs in little package or something? that's cool.

A similar thread came up a few months ago. I think they replaced it for that guy too.

I've got packs with the same problem. I will have to try sending in as well.

I usually just put a purity seal over it. No hassle whatsoever.

Yeah, I've got about 3 boxes worth of Marines, all with that problem. It's only on some of them, is easily fixable with some putty and sanding, but clearly a mistake. I'm not sure they can even fix it without modifying the mold. I guess they could grind down the overlong pin a bit so maybe they did fix it for later runs.

I have enough spare backpacks that I just chucked the bad ones.

ive got none of them like that i guess its just luck

I've only ever seen this with Space Marine backpacks. It happens pretty often, but I've usually had enough spares to make up the difference.

I slapped a purity seal on one and it looked alright. If GW wants to send me some extras that fine too...

I've known them just to send you the whole sprue. I'm not holding out on this, but who knows.

Hey just a thought are all of you that get the holes in the backpacks in america ???

Aren't all the models made in the same place though?

Wouldn't make sense, cause they would lose more money on shipping replacements.
