Hey guys I'm new to High elves but not new to the game, been playing about a year now, mostly with VC

Just got some HE models for Christmas and want to use them in an upcoming tournament. Here is my first crack at a 2500 semi friendly tournament list



Archmage: life, silver wand(+1 spell), talisman of endurance.

Mage: Jewel of the dusk, High Magic, level 1.

Mage: Seerstaff, Level 2, shadow magic enfeebling and okhams mindrazor.

Noble: Bsb, guardian Phoenix, armour of caledor, GW.

Spearmen x25: Full command.

Spearmen x25 Full Command.

Archers x15: standard, musician.

Phoenix Guard x20: Full Command, Razor standard, Skiensliver.

White Lions x21: Full Command, Banner of sorcery, Ironcurse Icon on Champ.

Lion Chariot

Comes to 2458, any suggestions on the last 42 points? Was thinking about just bumping up archers but I'm sure there is something better I'm overlooking.


I know the archers unit is small, but I'm fielding it due to lack of other models, and to try and pick off any annoying fast cav that may be running around.

If you wanna pick of small enoying units get some bolt throwers. Maybe you could drop the archers altogether and buff the spearelves.
I think you have too many mages, drop the lev one, he anit gonna get any power dice to use anyway.

As Solbo suggested, you have too many mages. At a practical level, you'll only ever really cast 2-3 spells in a given turn, so taking a third mage is a bit of a waste. I would drop the Level 1 and improve the Archmage's Item to the Talisman of Preservation instead. Forliath's Robe is additionally a nice item to protect your Archmage from combat.

Personally, I like at least 30-strong blocks of spears. Standards are never worthwhile in Archer units.

PG - Very similar to my own setup, but consider moving the Banner of Sorcery here instead. While the Razor Standard is nice, the PG have a better chance of keeping the Banner of Sorcery around through the end of the game.

WL - A setup I like for these guys is to give them the Banner of the Eternal Flame - makes this unit incredibly dangerous for Regen monsters to face off against.

I would use the remaining points to boost up the size of your spearelves, and even take off a couple of archers to do so to both units of spears.

You're shy of the 25% Core requirements by 35 points. Getting the War Banner on one of the Spear units (First Among Equals rule) and adding 1 more Spearelf to each unit will get you to where you need.

You'll need to scrape 26 points to do this, though (could drop 2 White Lions).


Unlike Solbo, I'm not keen on the Bolt Thrower. Getting rid of it can open up points to flesh out your Core. The remaining points could be spent on another Eagle, perhaps.

I'd say drop the RBT and up the PG to 25.
