Hey guys,

I played a space wolf chap in GW a good month and a half ago, (I'm a Nid player)
It was a 1500pt friendly, and he had a 10 (or was it 9) man assault terminator squad ALL with TH's & SS's, said something about it costing 700pts+!

Anyway, we only got to turn 2 during the game as it was like 9pm, well he and my Trygon, 10 termagants were on a collision course spelling disaster, untill my stealers (9 w/ Broodlord, sytals) outflanked like 1" from his "The immortals" (He knew it was cheesy; a deliberate name )

and they saved the day once they assaulted "The immortals".....NAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!

Okay, so I jumped in with something silly like 31-32 attacks with rending, and only managed to kill one!!!

He struck back wiping everything out save for the Broodlordy w/ 1W left he chipped it after.

I know TMC's are no good against these walking tanks, nor are hard hitting power weaponly wielding elites too..

My question after 5 minutes of typing is...WHAT IS?!!??!?!?!

Thought's and whatever is much appreciated incase I come up against this type of thingy again TYVM!

Terminators rocking Storm Shields and kited out with CC goodness need to be avoided. As a Deathstar unit, they are overall very solid and hard to budge.

Your best bet as a Tyranid plaure is to maneuver your entire army away from them or throw enough Termagants to tarpit the whole mob.

Does your army have any ranged weapons with high enough strength to Insta-death those Termies? So long as the rest of his list does not pose a problem for you, focus fire whatever can instadeath his Terminators and keep your CCers away.

It is a large, deathstar of TH/SS marines. It could be worse, he could be playing a BA and thus have FnP on top of everything.

Basically, just spam shooting. I'd like to see how the unit holds up against something like 50 gaunts. If anything, a horde of 30 or multiple, smaller hordes could probably hold up the TH/SS.

He'll have to roll 1's sometime, shoot him till he does them laugh as your 150 - 450 pts of gaunts kill off half his list.

Cheers fella's.. shame I only got 24 termagants over the space of 6 years! >.<

I'll make up for it in gargoyles and alot of other gaunts and shootey things

If you bring a Tervigon close enough, it makes those Termagants even harder to crack; just make sure that you throw enough 'Gants to keep that half of his army ineffective for the game.

Throw your smaller units at it, use some gants and gaunts with poison and glands. My usual tactic for assault based terminators is gants. Throw on enough wounds and they will fail the 2+ saves. Just be careful and do not assault with a MC if you have babies in combat with them.

What everyone else said. I would also go with crazy amounts of shooting. Since assault terminators don't have ranged weaponry, and aren't fleet, anything with a gun can out maneuver them for at least 2 turns. Just keep pouring str 4 or 5 shots into them, and they will fail their saves eventually. When I play my friends orks, his squad of 30 boyz just blows the gak out of my TH/SS termies before they get anywhere.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

Don't nid's have crazy cool poisoned shooting? And CC? A swarm of beasts with poisoned ranged (preferred) or CC attacks are not what those terms want to see.

dont take scything talons on genestealers, take toxin sacs, much better when you get to reroll wounds and get more rends in that way

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.

A tervigon an a couple of termagant squads could hold them up all game. Just maneuver smallish termagant squads so that they block off the path to other unit's he'd like to assault. If you can neutralize "the Immortals" with less then 300pts worth of Tryanids, then the rest of you army will outnumber him by 400 points. That is once you crack his transport, which can be difficult if you want to avoid being assaulted.

Cheers for the ideas guys!

Sorry mate I misworded it, I meant to say the Broodlord had Sytals, the Stealers were vanilla, I will in future though..

I don't think we got any poisoned shooting whatsoever :( they're short-ranged, high strength, low AP (as in AP 5-6) multi-shots usually.. (perfect right for these right!)

Doesn't help the fact it was a 4x4 board; with next to no space to shift my TMC's away from his Termies

Fleet hordes (which, I gather, nids have in abundance) should spell death for termies. They don't have all that many attacks.

I'm very confused here. Unless you're talking about characters, all Termies have one wound. Why would Instant Death matter?

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1
