It's been several months now since Space Wolves and Blood Angels most recent codices hit our shelves. More so than other recent releases (Tyranids), they rapidly dominated the top tables.

I know from my own beloved orks that their release and for several months after, they dominated (especially the nob bikers) until other folks lists adapted to take them out.

My thinking from my own battles with SWs and BAs is that, despite some kinky rules, the basic anti MEQ rules and list applies and that while their new rules would carry them high for a while, their place in the sun would be briefer...

So with time, learning curves and the release of DE, are the bats and wolves still top rankers?

What works against other MEQ's of course still works against BA's and SW's. The problem is that both BA's and SW's are generally more capable and/or cheaper than basic Space Marines/CSM's/DA's/BT's/GK's. The SW's in particular are rather undercosted and overcapable, while the BA's just have too many toys and extra special rules hamfisted in there to justify their existence as a separate book. The introduction of the new Dark Eldar book hasn't changed this really. DE's can hold their own against these armies, but it's because they have so much anti-MEQ firepower that any MEQ army generally has a tough time with them. The only army that both Blood Angels and Space Wolves aren't clearly superior to in an all comers sense is the Imperial Guard.
