I might change the Khorne lord a little, giving him a flail or halberd and trading the armor of destiny and shield for a dragon helm or the +4 ward armor in the WoC book. Since you already are getting a ward vs magic by way of the Jugger and the other armor covers the non magic attacks, the armor of destiny seems really expensive. The dragon hat/gem lets you get cheeky and charge his flaming banner toting unit and get a 2+ ward save vs every attack.

Likewise with the sorc, I like the dragon hat better than the enchanted shield, which costs us WoC lads 15 points :(

Personally, I like Lords with mundane, and very cheap, str enhancing weapons to save points. Given they are already Str 5 +1 or 2 from a halberd or flail is a great deal, and getting saves of 2-3+/3-4++ is pretty easy, so long as they don't try and solo big blocks head on they should be in good shape. Alternately, I like the Sword of ASF or the Helm of Many Eyes, as the reroll on nearly all attacks really can save you from rolling a bunch of 1's and 2's and weeping as your 300 point lord contributes nothing to combat :(

I think Disks of Tizz are a nice option to mount lords on as well, if you can sneak them up, charge a warmachine over the heads of the front lines, then set up rear charges. I never tried it though so I don't know how well it really works vs gunline type forces.

I agree with Wehrkind: you want rerolls. I tried to make chaos lords work in 7th and I came to the conclusion that they needed hatred or some kind of rerolled hits to really matter. Now, that means ASF FTW.

So you're worried about being hit by artillery and stuff? The charmed shield is an option, as is the 4+ ward that you've got here. What about crimson armor? Multiple artillery strikes could certainly take him out, but given his speed I don't see that happening against all but the nastiest gunline - which can smash through the one use charmed shield or the 4+ ward pretty easily too. Crimson armor also comes in handy vs the REALLY nasty characters out there, who have the best chance of taking the jugger lord out. I'd probably go with something like this:

Lord - MoK, crimson armor, dawnstone, helm of many eyes, halberd, juggernaut = 373

6 rerolled S6 attaks, rerolled 1+ armor that can't take more than 1 wound at a time (and turns off KB), on a friendly jugger. Also, stupid. Roar or stream would both be great gifts if they aren't somewhere else in your army.

3+ wards are awesome, aren't they? But I think you could very easily compromise () on a 4+ ward and use the extra points to pick up the helm of many eyes (if this is in a different army from the jugger lord). Smells something like this:

Lord - MoT, ogre blade, talisman of endurance, helm of many eyes, shield = 325

5 rerolled S7 attaks, 3/4+ save. Also, stupid. Roar or stream would both be great gifts if they aren't somewhere else in your army. Axe of khorne instead of the ogre blade is a concept as well, would just fit in the allotment and S6 KB is still pretty mean in 8th, which is increasingly a world of heavy ward saves, so getting 1 S6 KB wound through > 2 S7 non-KB wounds ...

I'd hate to fail the stupidity test on the lord from the Helm :/.
But i do agree that heroes and lord need rerolls badly.. I think im going to try out in my next league game coming up. Khorne jugger with that helm. rerolls sounds nice.

I don't worry about the Stupidity much as he is still Ld 10, and if he is near the BSB also rerolling that. If you are REALLY worried, the Sword of ASF costs the same as the helm of many eyes, but it will cost you Str >5. You could always get a potion of Str too though to help against the occasional T>3 baddie too. I kind of think Str6 is really worth it though since wounding everything <=T4 on a 2 is really good; not too much has a toughness higher than 4, and what does isn't on the field commonly. Plus, I have better things for my lord to do than get eaten by a Hydra or something

Oh yeah those are some good suggestions for the Lords.

Im always using a Sorceror for my general anyway, but I would like to field the Chaos Lord models(Sweat and Tears into em)

I played a game just recently and came to the conclusion that ward saves for Hero/Lord are not always used(in my case at least).
They just Ted Bundy everything before opponent gets to strike in a challenge any

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Chaos lords are pretty nasty in CC.

I love telling Dark Elves i go first

i also run a Tzeench lord with 3+ ward(2+ armor) it rarely comes into play, but it's totally worth it when it does.

a Chaos lord with 2+ armor, 3+ ward, and some sort of magic weapon will walk through just about anything.

against big monsters and ASF enemies it's nice to be able to punk off their attacks so easily. 3+ ward also helps against those pesky cannons.
