They are any non-vehicle units that come from the TROOP section of your respective codex.

They are troop choices that are able to score in objective games such at Capture and Control and Seize Ground. Other units can only contest objectives.

Not all troop choices are scoring units. It will state this in their codex.

Some crap explanations here.

The page you want is page 90 of the rulebook, the section titled 'Scoring Units.'

To summarise, all Troops choices which are not vehicles, swarms or specifically non-scoring count as being scoring units. Some units from other FoC slots can also be scoring under certain conditions. You use scoring units to hold objectives in the Sezie Ground and Capture & Control missions; units which aren't scoring cannot hold an objective (although they can stop a scoring unit from doing so).

A few examples:

A Tactical Squad is a Troops choice. It is a scoring unit.
A Death Company Squad is a Troops choice, but its Black Rage special rule means that it is still not scoring.
If you have a Big Mek, a Deff Dread can be taken as a Troops choice, but it is still not a scoring unit as it is a vehicle.
If you take a Warboss, one unit of Nobz or Meganobz can be taken as a Troops choice instead of as an Elites choice and becomes scoring.
If you have Pedro Kantor, Sternguard are scoring units, even though they still take up a slot in the Elites section.

I hope that helps.

“Do not ask me to approach the battle meekly, to creep through the shadows, or to quietly slip on my foes in the dark. I am Rogal Dorn, Imperial Fist, Space Marine, Emperor’s Champion. Let my enemies cower at my advance and tremble at the sight of me.”

Another example is a scoring unit embarked on a transport unit. In that case it is the only unit using a vehicle model to represent its location that can actually hold an objective and not just contest it.

+1 on the forums basically means the poster agrees with whoever's in the quote, at least I think that's what it means. Dont get it confused with the in-game term

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

It's a fairly lazy way of showing that you agree with whatever it is. Posts that are just quotes with +1 on them are also considered spam on here.
