Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes
|
I always imagined that in battle, a hero, or lord, or whatever, would seek out the enemy leader and face them in a great session of combat to crush the enemies spirit entirely.
So this is how it would work.
One of your HQ units or independent characters must be elected to pursue an enemy HQ or independent character throughout the game. Your elected unit must move towards the chosen enemy and assault it as soon as possible. You may shoot or assault any other unit while out of charging range of the target. Once in combat, each take turns attacking one another until one is dead. The losers entire army suffers a -1 to their leadership for the rest of the game. Any honour guard, command squad, etc may not take part in the combat.
Kinda silly idea, based on those epic stand offs you see in movies-Please share thoughts!

Like above.
The only down side is that there are a lot of HQs that aren't meant for close combat. Support HQs or psychers.
I'd hate to have to deal with Marneus, or even a normal SM Captain/Chapter Master with nothing but a Wierdboy or BigMek. (although I suppose the BigMek could have a Klaw)

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies. |

An easy way to force this is to simply have both players take a single IC from the HQ slots (their only HQ), and build your army otherwise, and just agree that nothing can hit either HQ except the other HQ, and only in CC.
This is purely for a fun game with a friend for a little fun.

Again, Battle missions.
The set up is already there.
Only your HQ can take the final wound off the other and vice versa.
