So I played a game a few weeks ago and am pondering how to actually figure this out. I was running my Space Wolves and I had Bjorn the Fell Handed in my army. In the rulebook it says treat all walkers as infantry as far as rules and movement go but walkers can fire all weapons and move and assault just like normal troops. All space wolves have counter charge. I was charged by some Eldar models in hand to hand and I passed my leadership and counter charged. Does that mean I turn and face them in combat? If so, then can they still hit me on my side armor?

Is Bjorn allowed to counter charge? I assume since it says treat walkers as troops and in my Codex all Space Wolf troops get counter charge I would imagine it applies to him.

the whole double your toughness is instant death only applies to shooting right? It does not apply to S v T in hand to hand combat does it?

I haven't played since 2nd edition so relearning all the new rules.

Thanks,

Not sure about Bjorn and counter attack.

Instant death counts for ALL attacks/wounds. You can suffer ID from close combat AND shooting.

Hmm really? In the rule book it is only in the shooting section. That changes a lot of things about hand to hand then since more HQ units have toughness of average 4 or abouts.

In the Webway.

Walkers can manouvre in CC and so are always hit on their front armour.

Bjorn is allowed to counter charge if he has the rule, despite applying to most SW models anyway the rule should be listed in the unit's individual entry anyway. So check there.

ID applies anywhere, so that includes close combat.

Hope this helps!

You guys got any links to these in FAQ???

I searched GW's site but none of them answer these specific questions.

Thanks again

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I guess counter attack is not listed in Bjorn's section, it does list it on every troop type and it does say that every space wolf gets counter attack....

So, I guess every space wolf means every troop type?

In combat attacks against a walker are always resolved against their front armour.

I'd say no. To counter-charge you have to pass a Ld test, walkers do not have a Ld value, so how do you test for it?

It does apply.

Ah yeah Bjorn does not have a leadership value...so I guess that means he is also immune to all psychology as well.

Bjorn doesn't have the Counter-Attack rule, so he doesn't get to do it.

“Do not ask me to approach the battle meekly, to creep through the shadows, or to quietly slip on my foes in the dark. I am Rogal Dorn, Imperial Fist, Space Marine, Emperor’s Champion. Let my enemies cower at my advance and tremble at the sight of me.”

As for where ID is located - if you notice close combat doesnt repeat how you take wounds, you instead refer back to the shooting section as the rules are the same.

OK thanks for the clarifications. Like I said, none of us have played since second edition 40K, so the 5th edition rules are a bit new to us.
