Looking over Khan and I love the idea of an entire list that can out-flank or deep strike. Bikes have always been a favorite of mine but I never really like the Ravenwing builds for Dark Angels but decided that this combat tactic would be worth playing around with. I decided to play a fluff flavored list and create a new Chapter while doing so. So no White Scars or Ravenwing, although I plan on buying several Ravenwing Battleforces since it's the cheapest route to take. Anyway, all bikes, land speeders, and a "count as" Khan as an HQ

Khan with Moodkracken - 205pts
Weapons: Bolt Pistol, Moonfang.

Bike Squadron (7) - 250pts
Weapons: Twin-Linked Bolter, (2) Melta-gun, Powerfist.
- Attack Bike
Twin-Linked Bolter, Heavy Bolter.

Bike Squadron (7) - 250pts

Bike Squadron (7) - 250pts
Weapons: Twin-Linked Bolter, (2) Melta-gun, Powerfist.

Weapons: Twin-Linked Bolter, Heavy Bolter.

Land Speeder Typhoon Squadron (2) - 180pts
Typhoon Missle Launcher, Heavy Bolter

Land Speeder Typhoon Squadron (2) - 180pts
Typhoon Missle Launcher, Heavy Bolter

Out-flank with the bikes with Khan attached to one while the Typhoons deep strike and deal with enemy armor. I packed multiple melta guns and heavy bolters into the list to deal with both light and heavy infantry. The speeders can help deal with horde armies as well. Mostly a fun list, but it can be fast and hit hard as well.

Let me know what you think.

looks great! maybe some MM for the speeders?

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander

Wow.. I would have thought more people would have commented by now.

It's just for fun mostly, but I personally believe this list would dominate if someone isn't prepared to handle it.

I run two melta guns in each squad along with a fist. I figured the best options were to deep strike the speeders and still have 48" to toy with when picking targets to shoot at. 12" on the multi meltas would put them close for everything else to pone them since they only have AV10.

Try running with 6 bikes total (including the attack bike). Also, a MM attack bike would fit the model if your MG's better.
I use 3 similar squads for troops in my army, and have been using plasma guns to great effect. Try some out and see how they do for you.

You don't need to deep strike Typhoons. If fact, you want them as far back from the enemy as possible. Squadded typhoons are very vulnerable to anti-AV weapons, like the hydra. One volley will destroy 2 typhoons instead of one. I would suggest replacing some typhoons with TL AC dreadnoughts. You have 560 points tied up in these typhoons -- spread them around. Get 2 typhoons, 1 predator, and maybe a TL/AC dread.

I started running a bike army very similar to what you have today, but Ive changed it a lot after many games. Bikes are awesome, but they need very strong fire support to really shine. If you don't go with that fire support, your bikes will suffer.

I wanted something that would go with both the fluff and purpose of the list. Everything can out-flank and never deploys. That's a pretty huge advantage against other armies since you can't set up early to deal with the person's approach.

I could try MM Dreadnoughts with Drop Pods.. That would possibly help with the fire support and still be able to drop where/close to where it needs to be.

Labmouse42 gived you some very good advice.

I don't honestly advice you to outflank the entire army. I totally don't have bonuses on the reserves rolls so, you really risk to come in with just 1/2 unit per time. Something that your adversary will absolutely be able to manage.

Besides it all will depends by random dices rolls. Not properly a solid tactic.

However.. Khan give some other interesting bonus over the outflanking ability. You don't need at all to outflank bikes..

Consider instead to profit by furious charge and hit and run, best applied on a command sq.

In fact I think you don't need Khan at all. A regular Captain biker will be perfect for you.

Every molecule will be useful

If your just looking for deepstriking/outflanking stuff then your limited to the following
* Droppods
* Speeders
* Bikes
* Scout Bikes
* Terminators

With that in mind, your current list is about as good as you will get. In the bike squad with Khan, you might want to remove a bike (so all your squads have 7 people), and use the spare points to upgrade the HB attack bikes to MM attack bikes. That will have more synergy with the melta guns. Also, try out some plasma guns. They work wonders on infantry. Don't be squeamish about losing a bike every now and then -- your overall averages will be very much in your favor when it comes to bikes lost via 'gets hot' to the number of MEQ roasted into oblivion.

Coming from reserve with all bikes is not as bad as it sounds. All your bikes will tubo-boost onto the board as they come on, and a 3+ cover save goes a long way to protecting your units. I have won many games by just turbo-boosting from one side of the board to the other until turn 5 when i turbo-boosted onto objectives.

I use a biker captain, and I find him better than Khan. A relic blade is a wonderful toy, and he comes in ~50 points cheaper too.

Captain may be the right route to go then. MM attack bikes seem like the right choice if I do double Plasma squads. I was using Melta for MEQ but for some reason forgot that the bikers can rapid fire and still assault. That's an over-sight on my part.

So, things to consider:

Captain on Bike/Relic Blade
Plasma in squads.
Multi-Melta Attack Bikes

If you want khan and your captain to be able to switch out just make em the same points (couldent decide myself so thats what im doing)

khan with his bike is 205pts

so for 205pts

Captain
-Bike
-Stormsheild
-Relic Blade
-Artificer Armour
-Hellfire rounds

then you can switch between them without having to change the list

I personally prefer to Drop Pod Assault Cannons on my Dreads instead of MM. On 10 and 11 armor AC's are statistically more effective.

I just absolutely hate missing that precious first shot.
