Do you guys know if there is a brand (in the US) of enamel (or other, really) spraypaint that is a color match for Boltgun Metal? I know Montana Gold matches some colors... I've tried a few other paints but no joy. Right now I've been running it through an airbrush for basecoats but I want to do a pair of Rhinos in the near future and that's probably a bottle of paint through the airbrush.

Not exactly what you asked, but Army Painter sells a spray can called "Plate Mail Metal":

No idea how good it is though, haven't tried the can at my home yet.

Do you know if this is a color match for Boltgun Metal?
PS: $15 a can, huh? I have to take back what I said about their rebadged minwax polyshades being the biggest scam in wargaming.

$15 is pretty standard for spray colors. Even the Tamiya spray primer is pretty steep at around $13-15 for a can about half the size of the GW one. after looking around, GW primer doesnt seem to be that bad of a deal,

ok, granted, I haven't really looked into the competition. So, strike that last. The real question is, does it match up?

Krylon makes a spray Silver.. I find it at my local Walmart. It is a "muddy" silver.. probably close to boltgun metal, but the fence I was painting didn't care.
That can was $4...
Looking at their website, they have a Fusion for Plastic (NEVER will it strip) called Nickel Shimmer..

and a basic Indoor/Outdoor spray called Aluminum..

Colour match is always going to be a problem. Try the rustolene range or plasticote as you will get something close.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |
