I was shopping for sprays and I could not find the color I needed in Krylon, but I saw that Rustoleum has a Universal Line that advertises it is ok to use on plastics. Has anyone ever tried using this product? Was it successful?

I'm on a can of Rustoleum Automotive primer that I've found to be very wet going on, puddling to my concern of eliminating detail, but dries very smooth and with no loss of detail to my eye.
I know that the Krylon Fusions are the same basic thing (made for plastics) and work pretty good but the shade range is pretty limited in my local retailers.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

That is kind of where I am at. I was looking for a grey in the Fusion line and all my local retailers do not carry it. When I saw the Rustoleum Universal, I wondered if it was a viable solution.

Yes, if it's the same stuff we get in the UK. I found it to be similar to Plastikote, in that you are better off doing a few light passes to get coverage as it can blob and obscure detail. I also found it was better to give the mini a coat of varnish before adding other colours to prevent reticulation (where the paint refuses to stay where it was brushed). Try it on something unimportant first, just in case.

I use both Krylon and Rustoleum's cheapo gray primer and it's never melted any plastic for me. Using it on styrofoam terrain though is a whole other story, and a quick way to make cratered ruins.
