3 things help I believe. A decent camera, a good background, and good lighting. Unfortunately I lack a camera right now or I would be taking some. But a white background to place your boyz in front of and good lighting on them usually helps.

It's being run by people with short term vision and enough greed to extinguish a sun.

Perhaps they're the C'tan.

You need to use the macro setting on your camera too - it's usually a picture of a flower.

Upload the pictures on the Dakka gallery, then copy their image location (done by right clicking on em) and put them between image tags. ["img"] image URL here ["/img"] minus the quotation marks.

Depending on the camera, a white background may not be the best choice (it tends to confuse a lot of autofocus systems). A graduated background tends to work better.

With the camera:
READ THE MANUAL. Seriously. Many of your questions will be answered by it.

MACRO mode (little tulip/flower symbol). Learn the minimum focus distance for this - it's in the manual.

STABILISE the camera. DO NOT HANDHOLD. Use a tripod, stack of books, small beanbag, whatever. Hand shake is a leading cause of camera blur.

Lighting. THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT. If your lighting is off, the picture will suffer for it.

Practice, practice, practice and practice lots more.

Proper preparation prevents p*ss-poor performance.

If you're using natural light and taking multiple shots, try to get them all done as quickly as you can before the light changes too much.
