Helbrecht's squad MUST take Furious Charge.
Grimaldus cannot be attached to a command squad of a marshall or castellan whose squad has "chosen" a veteran skill.
I'm seeing a couple of people saying that since Helbrecht's squad does not "choose" the skill, then this clears the way for Grimaldus to be attached to the squad.
Yes no etc. I think its a sneaky way to attach the character.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase. |

The squad has chosen a skill; just because the choice is forced doesnt mean it isnt a choice.
No, you cannot have the two together

First, I am in agreement that H and G cannot be taken together. However, your argument is flawed....a choice means you can choose something else, or choose not to take something at all. H's squad must take the skill. They have no alternative, nor can they not take it. Thus, by the strictest definitions of the language, it is not a choice.
Which is what the original creators of this are saying. They are using the language to create the situation. G's squad cannot join a squad that has chosen a skill. H's squad did not get to make the choice, it is a requirement.

In this case chosen a skill is referring to taking any skill, not necessarily to making the selecting. Think of it more as an adjective to describe state rather than a verb.

Grimaldus wouldnt want to fight with Helbrecht anyway, he is probably still smarting about old Helbrecht ditching him on Armageddon where all his mates got killed...

There is no distinction made between a voluntary or compulsory choice, they are both still choices.
"You must choose between X, Y or Z" means that you have chosen a skill. You didnt have a choice over whether to pick a skill or not, but the actual skill you DID pick you DID choose, and therefore you ahve satisfied the requirement "has chosen a veteran skill"

I could certainly be missing this restriction on Grimaldus and Veteran Skills. I only see a restriction that he cannot join or be joined by other Chaplains. Can someone let me know what page it's on?

It is under the Cynobyets in the wargear section. Grimaldus comes with 3. Automatically Appended Next Post: nosferatu1001 wrote:There is no distinction made between a voluntary or compulsory choice, they are both still choices.
"You must choose between X, Y or Z" means that you have chosen a skill. You didnt have a choice over whether to pick a skill or not, but the actual skill you DID pick you DID choose, and therefore you ahve satisfied the requirement "has chosen a veteran skill"
Definition of the word choice:
1. The act of choosing; selection.
2. The power, right, or liberty to choose; option.
3. One that is chosen.
4. A number or variety from which to choose: a wide choice of styles and colors.
5. The best or most preferable part.
6. Care in choosing.
7. An alternative.
A mandatory skill that must be taken, with no alternatives, is not a choice. Therefore, Helbrecht's squad did not choose FC. They have to have it. Thus, Grimaldus and his Cynobites can join his squad.
