Bloodthirsty Chaos Knight

I recently aquired a Terminator Librarian with a Storm Shield. I plan to attach him to some TH/SS terms in a Land raider.
What power should I give him (along with null zone)? I figure Vortex of Doom might be a nice power that takes advantage of the Libbys relentless ability. Might of the ancients might be another good ability as it will be in assaults most of the time. Avenger is also nice.
Gate is another possibility. Would be great if my Land Raider gets killed/immobilised early, but I am really worried about losing 40pt models to doubles scatter and a 600pt unit to a mishap (Will be using with Lysander+TH/SS terms)

Avenger. The only thing that terminators suck against is a big unit (say of 30 boys). Against that kind of opponent, nullzone does nothing. Avenger fills in that weakness. Anything the terminators might be having issues with Nullzone will be your power of choice. Preventing them from getting tarpitted can be achieved with Avenger.

Also improved by the fact that I don't have any flame templates in my army.

Another vote for avenger. Great for making your terminators scary to masses of infantry too (it's not going to destroy everything, but it can really put the hurt on enemies who have just lost their ride and are bunched up).

I've run a stormshield Librarian with TH/SS Terminators in the past and he's worked quite well with Gate of Infinity and Vortex, the best example being taking the unit of Terminators across the board, leaving them in the next turn and then using gate of infinty and Vortex to harass enemy tanks for the rest of the game. Works well until perils of the warp :/

I had the same debate earlier this morning. Smite: Probably more useful with the Epistolary upgrade. Most of the time, if you're hitting something with AP2 attacks, you'll want it to have to re-roll his invul. Force Dome: DO I really need to get into why this is pointless on a unit with built in Invuls? Machine Curse: Mostly good for making Vindicators useless, though not nearly as good as a unit of Thunder Hammer wielding dudes. The Avenger: If you're charging a large mob of Boyz, the 5 this power will probably kill won't make a huge difference. You should have some things in your army capable of taking down hordes. Quickening: I10 is always useful, though I personally ding this power some points, because a librarian fleeting all by himself isn't really that great... Null Zone: Don;t need to go over this one. Looks like your pretty set on taking it regardless of what anyone says, not that anyone should be trying to dissuade you from taking the best psychic power in the book. Might of the Ancients: My personal favorite here. Can be useful in any assault situation, especially a few where Null Zone isn't even required. Perfect for some easy kills on Power Armored Meqs (3's then 2's to kill 4 Marines), and complimentary to Thunder Hammers versus vehicles, especially Dreadnoughts. Also means that nothing in the unit wounds T6 monstrous creatures on anything worse than a 4. Gate: Too muck risk involved, for the reasons you stated above. In my experience, rolling doubles is far too common when it becomes relevant. Take the usual precautions one takes to keep Land Raiders alive, like equally juicy targets or weapons that can neutralize threats to your Land Raider before they become a problem. Also, spring for Extra Armor. Vortex: See Smite and The Avenger, and add the possibility of killing your own units, either through perils, or because its range is equal to the maximum scatter range. To avoid scattering onto your own unit, you might be tempted to gamble on shooting it at something that will be out of charge range. When the gamble fails, you won't be able to do what you should be doing with your Assault Terminators; assaulting.

Null zone and avenger are the two most useful powers in a general context. If you tool your libby and his squad for a specific role, then you may find other powers to serve you better. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and Homing Baecons make gate a non-risk.

I usually give my guy Vortex and Null Zone.
slapping down a Str10 AP1 blast means he can kill vehicles(especially Landraiders) and MEQs and isn't too bad against massed infantry either.
the most multi-purpose power besides Null Zone.
