Alternative preferred wave: Skarbrand, Bloodcrushers, (16) Bloodletters, (8) Bloodletters
Alternative second wave: Soul Grinder, Bloodcrushers, (16) Bloodletters
Skarbrand is obviously quite a controversial choice, as some people point to the high WS of Bloodletters/Crushers and make the claim that he re-rolls actually help the enemy more than they help you. However, both my troops and elites strike and S5-6 and I5 on the charge with power weapons; it stands to reason that providing my re-rolls to hit from Skarbrand there really won't be many, if any, enemies left alive to take advantage of his rule. Skarbrand is also the quickest model in the army, as he has fleet.
The Heralds will join the Bloodcrushers, giving each squad upwards of 10 S6 rending attacks on the charge combined. The Bloodletters I considered breaking down into smaller squads for objective missions, but I reasoned that I would probably have to wipe my enemy out in order to win and 8 Bloodletters standing on an objective all game really really isn't making use of their natural beastliness in CC.
The Soul Grinder is there because he a) looks awesome, b) is an AV13 walker with fleet and c) provides some measure of long-range firepower which, obviously, isn't present anywhere else in the army.
The wave preference I *do* need some help on. I reasoned that as I get my preferred wave 2/3rds of the time I could stack it so I get all my dirty units in one go, with some scoring units coming down throughout the game to drop on objectives. However, if I do get my non-preffered wave, I think I'll find myself in major trouble so I am considering splitting the army straight down the middle (see alternative preferred wave).
Any thoughts on this? I'm dead set on mono-God builds with Daemons because, as I said in my tactics thread, I still can't bend my head around the fact that the Chaos Gods are all chummy with each other now as opposed to the scheming, outright violent rivalries that existed in the past.
C&C is, as always, welcome!

Hey Lycaeus Wrex,
Nice list. You'll do great with it. I'm a fan of moar big monstars and as such I'd try and squeze in more of them to generate a multiple treath situation for your opponent. A second Grinder would offer a great deal of resilience through target saturation and I'd value a Bloodthirster higher then two Heralds of Knorne. Especially because of the much needed mobility he offers (you don't have much to catch annoyingly zippy Raiders and Vendatta's for instance).
I'd go for something like this:
300 Skabrand
250 Bloodthirster
200 4 Crushers, everything
195 4 Crushers, Fury, Icon (need to save 5 points)
256 16 Bloodletters
128 8 Bloodletters
128 8 Bloodletters
160 Soul Grinder, Phlegm
160 Soul Grinder, Phlegm
1749
And about Skabrand? I'd go for it. Sure you'll make things worse against Dark Eldar for instance, but against most lists you'll have the advantage through being a solely CC oriented army.
Good luck with the list, let us know how you do with it.

Thanks for the reply Cilithan, the input is much appreciated. One question I have to ask is: why have you got the full command in the Bloodcrusher units? Is that purely for wound allocation?
Also, in my original list, and in your ammended one, how would you arrange your preferred waves?
Thanks again,
L. Wrex

Hey mate, the full upgrade selection in the units of Bloodcrushers is indeed solely for the purpose of wounds allocation and worth every penny in that regard. Basically you can take 4 wounds before the unit loses any of it's effectivity.
Yes, the waves...
Frontloading is dangerous of course since it makes the performance of the army succeptible to chance. Some stacking in your favour is offcourse very usefull. I usually play with Fateweaver and in those lists you have to select Fateweaver himself for the primary wave and as such you're allready frontloading...
In your list, I'd go with your alternative wave-selection I think.
In the list I suggested, I'd go with something like this:
Preferred wave: Bloodthirster, 4 Bloodcrushers, 16 Bloodletters, Soul Grinder
Second wave: Skabrand, 4 Bloodcrushers, 8 Bloodletters, 8 Bloodletters, Soul Grinder
This way Skabrand is protected from fire and his ability will come into play when combat ensues. Also, the waves are more or less equal to avoid chance to play too great of an influence.
Of course you can decide just before roling for waves, so you can also change this according to the opponents deployment/army. Vs. an Ork-Horde for instance I can immagine you'd want both Soul Grinders in your primary wave. Vs. a shooty list that can threaten a sole Bloodthirster in a single turn you may want to swap Skabrand for the Grinder in the first wave, and maybe even add a second squad of Crushers to the primary wave. That way you offer your opponent multiple resilient threats. Vs. a balanced list the abovementioned waveselection maybe OK.
