Hi all

this might sound like a stupid question but im a little lost here, in assault on black reach i have 3 kopters and 1 dread. how exactly does the dreadnought fight and how to you fight against it? I mean the ork nobs have a BS level i think of 4 or 5 and the dred has front armour of about 14 so do we take the bs level 5 from the armour value of 14 so the ork would need to roll a 2D6 and get a 9 to hit it?

advice please please please

nobs are bs 2. you need a 2 up to hit. you only roll one dice per shot to hit. so on a 5-6 you would hit then you take the weapon strength and roll a d6 per hit and add that roll whatever the weapons strength is. I dont remember what the strength of a shoota off the top of my head. But you compare that result to the armor. I highly reccommend reading the rule book section on armor as this will explain what you need to get a glancing vs a penetrating hit which I do not know off the top of my head.

Dread has FA and SA or 12.
ICD has FA and SA of 13.
Shoota has Strength 4 AP 6

Rokkits S8 are your best bet on killing the Dread. Codex options on The Deffkopter and Nobz

Nobs are BS2.

to figure out what a model needs to hit with a Ranged weapon take the number 7 and subtract their Ballistic skill. that is the roll you need to hit with a ranged weapon.

in Close combat you compare the model you are trying to hit's Weapon Skill(WS) with your models WS.

if your WS is higher then your opponents WS you need 3+ to hit. if you are lower or equal you need 4+. if your enemies WS is more then twice yours you need 5+.

When rolling to damage a Vehicle you compare the Str of your weapon/model with the armor value of the vehicle. both in ranged and Close combat you do this.

roll a Dice and add the Str of your weapon/attack to the dice. if it is equal or above the armor value of the vehicle you have damaged it. if you equal the Armor valeu you have glanced, if above you have penetrated.

the AoBR set's nobs only have sluggas. these can't hurt the dreadnought's front or side armor and they can only glance the rear. in CC the nobs need 6s to glance because they are Str6 and the Dreadnought is AV12. only the Warboss can penetrate in CC.

the Deffcoptas have Rokkits which are Str8. after rolling to hit(5+ for ALL orks, always) you roll another dice and add 8 to it. if you roll a 4 you glance, on a 5 or 6 you penetrate.

the AoBR booklet should have all this information.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

You should go over your rulebook again. That entire line is answered quite clearly in the section regarding close combat and armor penetration (in that order). Plus the AoBR set should have come with a booklet that gave you the statistic of the models. If you got the models from a supplier, you should buy the codex or a full AoBR set before playing.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
