Been playing 40k casually for the past two years. For better or worse, hitting a WYSIWG tourny in coming weeks and with that the rules-mongers are sure to be in force. I wanted to get some viewpoints on rules interactions especially with regards to rules for reserves.

In reserve, I have - 10 Assault Marines w/ Jump, Sang Priest, Furioso Dread, and Storm Raven as separated in the force org accordingly.

Question #1
Rolling for reserve, if I choose to embark all (AS, Priest, Dread) the above into the Storm raven. Do I only make a single reserve roll, or roll for each item in the force org?

1B - If indeed all rolls should be separate, can I choose to keep all of them in reserve an additional turn if a portion of the rolls fail, like the SR?

Question #2
A Stormraven can only hold 6 models with jump packs. Coming in from reserve if the roll (or rolls) for the unit(s) are successful can a combat squad of 5 ASM with Priest come in with the Storm Raven and the 2nd CS of ASM come in via DoA?

Question #3
The Stormraven is not a dedicated transport. This in mind, can I remove the Jump Packs from the ASM to discount an RB or Rhino but choose to embark them on the Stormraven instead either at initial deployment or from reserves? Basically, are you prohibited from deploying in an alternate transport then your dedicated transport?

Question #4
Just to clarify - the INIT FAQ states a Storm Raven with Locator beacon used with Skies of Blood nullifies scatter/dangerous terrain test as long as deployed within 6" of the SR. So based on that, on turn one the SR can flat out 24" troops/dread disembark 6" w/o penalty and then assault an additional 6"?

Some of these may be common sense, but bear with me. With the new model now out, I figure I'm not the only one with some questions on it's use and rules interactions.

Thanks.

1) You choose who is riding in what transport during deployment, you dont get to choose when the game starts.

the good news thsi is all one reserve roll - so your 1B is not relevant, and it would not be possible either.

2) No, as you may NOT combat squad in reserve. Combat squad is made WHEN you deploy, and being placed in reserves is instead of deploying. Have a quick read of the Reserves section where it lays this out. It is also (badly worded, but) covered in the SM FAQ on the website.

3) No you are not prohibited, but another squad cannot start in your dedicated transport as per page 67

4) You CANNOT disembark from a transport if it moves flat out. Have a quick read of the Flat Out! rules.

The stormraven has the Skies of Blood special rule that allows you to disembark in a special way from a flat out vehicle similar to the Valkyrie

Imperial Guard, 501st Cadian Urban Assault Group: 5300 points
Imperial Fists: 1st and 3rd Companies 4100 points
Witch Hunters: Our Martyred Lady 700 Points

This disallows assaults. Last line of the Skies of Blood rule.

Nos is correct on everything except for #4.

#4) no; you can use the locator beacon to nullify any chances of scatter, but you cannot Assault afterward(as specified in the Skies of Blood rule)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I don't believe you can start the assault squad with jump packs in the stormraven while it's in reserve if you are using a 10 man squad.
This would be the same if you bought a razorback as a transport for a ten man tac squad and put it in reserve(for some reason), right? You wouldn't be able to put the tac squad in the razorback and you would have to roll for both the razorback and the tac squad.
