Anyone ever used cork for bases? I got some cork sheets pieces to make some bases that look real rocky. Is it something I should "seal" before I paint it? it doesn't seem as crumbly as I thought it would be, but I kinda worry teeny pieces might flake off eventually. Or would a spray primer be a good enough sealer for it? I'm kinda going for a moon look so I'm planning to just spray them black and drybrush with grays.

I used cork to make lava bases. Used White glue to put the cork on the base. Let dry overnight. Spray primed white. Layered up from Yellows-Reds-Browns-Black.
To attach the model I used a product called "Liquid Nails" from the Home Despot. Essentially industrial adhesive in a tube. Just a dab on the bottom of the feet.

OK cool. I'm going to do sand on the base between the cracks in the cork pieces. I usually do 50/50 watered down white glue on the base, and then add the sand and let it dry, then do another coat of glue to seal it.

I was thinking of pinning the feet on metal models, and just stab the pin down into the cork to help hold em there.
