Do leave his SD inspite of my advice below. Sometimes tourney missions make killing the HQ, or keeping it alive secondary or tertiary objectives.

First, BC&flamer is an awful loadout. Are you looking at a tourney filled with orks? The flamer means they'll be caught in h2h the next round. The better "anti-horde" suit is BC/MP/MT, the FireStorm. Lotsa dice and the 18"+ JSJ distance for safety from assault. Either the FireStorm or FK as you'll be playing 3 opponents and thus need better "all around" loadouts, and BC&flamer ain't that.
Second:
This is a big crew of 7 models (with Shas'el, right?), several on 40 mm bases. I'd split all these suits into individual units. Yes, this increases KPs, but is worth it because:
1. It's easier to hide 3 individual suits behind terrain than three as a unit (and of course, you're putting 'em all together, unless the Shas'el is gonna hang with FWs?)
2. It's harder for the enemy to kill three individual suits as they're 3 separate targets, either in shooting or catching them in h2h

And of course, by putting the Shas'el and his SD with them, this 7 model unit will be unwieldy in JSJumping your way over and behind terrain. Far better to have 3 monats and the Shas'el, sans SD.** And of course, the Shas'el *could* attach to FWs.
anon/rassilon wrote:Broadside Team - 3 Broadsides with Target Locks
**I'd take the Shield drones off the XV8s and put them here. Crisis Suits can hide behind LoS Blocking terrain (if your LGS uses blocking terrain) and the B-sides always take the enemy's initial shooting. Railguns cause that "must kill first" instinct in opponents, meaning broadsides catch tthe worst of the shooting. SDs will help their longevity.

Also, since you don't have Markerlight help, Twin-Link BS3 ain't that great. IF your dice are hot, then cool, but I have found that it takes a few RG shots to bag tanks, instead of just one. I like A.s.s. to be able to move a bit to deny enemy Cover Saves (somewhat) or Target Array to simply hit better. Either is better than TLocks.

All else is good, the HH and piranhas.

At this point level, i think your kroot squad is too big. Maybe slim it down into 1 squad of 10 kroot and 10 hounds, 1 squad of 10 kroot, or just 2x10 kroot.

also, consider that for the same price of a firewarrior squad and a piranha, you can get a 6 man fw squad in a warfish. This will shoot more than the piranha, and keep the fw safe.

personally, i would turn the list into this:

commander: same
1x fireknife
2x fireknife
krootx10
krootx10
fwx6 warfish
fwx6 warfish
xv88(3) targetting arrays on 2 teamleader, bk hwdc, 2xsd
hh-drop flechette

On top of what everyone else said,

Beyond the fact that you only need 2 target locks on your broadsides:

I would field your unit like this:
3 Broadsides w/ A.S.S. (or TA)
Team Leader w/ TL and 2 Shield Drones

Or:

2 Broadsides w/ A.S.S. (or TA)
Team Leader w/ TL and 2 Shield Drones

1 Broadside w/ A.S.S. (or TA)

The first option will keep your broadsides alive longer, the second will let your fire at 3 different targets.

It is all legal.

I'd take out the Target Lock for a BK instead. It'd be worth it to rally two b-sides, should they retreat. That's kinda minor though. Overall, you're in good shape, IMHO.

This is okay. I normally prefer suits in pairs unless the Shas'el joins but to each his own. At 1250, Firestorms could be a nice investment since all the wacky FnP doesn't normally creep TOO bad into most lists. Although, hard-core tourney players might give you some surprises.

Also, your suits are only 50 points so you actually have 12 more points to throw around. Thought you'd like to know.

I normally run suit-heavy on my Tau so Fire Warriors are minimum size. However, if I decided to change, I'd max the Fire Warriors as that's where you'll get their max usability. So, good job with the Fire Warriors. I really don't like the Markerlight on them though. Sure, it's nice when it goes off, but I'd like a higher probability to hit when using Markerlights but again, your decision here.

I normally advise people to try Kroot in squads of 13 or 17 since you'll need an extra casualty for a Morale check. Also, if you happen to acquire any Hounds, you could change this to a Kroot x10 and Hounds x6 for 106 points. It nets an extra body and finds a home for that spare point your list is toting around. Just something to keep in mind.

With the 12 points from your suits, you could upgrade these to Fusion Blaster which would bump these guys up more in usefulness. Maybe swap your Disruption Pods for Targeting Arrays if you decide to upgrade since they'll be too close to benefit from the Pod. Although, with the destructive power your Broadsides have, I'd repurpose these points and try to get more Special Weapon Mobile Suits.

I agree with Brothererekose. You're investing a lot of your 1250 points in the Broadsides so it's a very good idea to try and keep as many as possible. Although, once they regroup you have to wait a turn but the opponent might forego them since they can't shoot.

Overall, I like what you've got here as others have said.
