I have a squad that looks like this:
Vanguard Veteran:
Sergeant w/ Power Fist and Bolt Pistol
4x Vets with Chain Sword and Bolt Pistols
This is in a tournament list that I want to run. So I went and bought a box of Vanguard Veterans. Of course the box doesn't have my load out. x2 Marines with Chain Swords and plasma pistols. x2 Marines with Power Swords and bolt pistols. Sgt with Power Sword. Since a Chain Sword is a CCW and provides no bonus, can I use the Power Swords and paint them as a regular sword and use them as WYSIWYG. This may seem a trivial question, but I have never played in a tournament before, and my local game store we practice a lot of different lists so we proxy a lot of things. So I have never used WYSIWYG rules.

AS long as the non-power power swords were clearly NOT power swords, i.e any actual power swords were clearly visible, then this shouldnt be an issue.
Of course asking the TO is always the best option for this, as they have the final say in any tournamnet.

And you can also cut the little -----0 thing on the side of the power sword off.

Well, I am going to Adepticon. How about there? If it works there, it should be fine anywhere for the most part. I would think.

Same thing as long as the swords just look like swords, and the power weapons look like power weapons. Also just to error on the safe side, just tell your opponents that those are just swords not power weapons. Takes like 1 second to say that, and then everything will be on the up and up

Agreed
90% of potential issues can be sorted by pointing them out at the start, before the game starts (and therefore before you are properly vested in it) - communication is key.

Depends on if they look like the rest of the power weapons in your army. IE. paint them differently. Metalic for non-power weapons and glowy blue for power weapons. Something along those lines.
