For 40k, every 4 - 7 months, roughly.

Codexes or codices. The apostrophe makes it possessive and doesn't make sense.
Unfortunately BuFFo is right, 4-7 months. Grey Knights are confirmed for April by GW, but no other ideas are really out there for something sooner. For a particular army's codex, that's much longer. Like 4-6 years for most armies, and it's been close to 10 years for the Inquisition armies.

Our number is legion.
Our name is Death.
Our codex hasn't been updated in two editions.

I heard Orks may be getting an update this year.

Ah, then the post I saw put down the wrong kind of orks. That would have been interesting though.

Orks with "k" are 40k, "orcs with "c" are Fantasy (in English GW terms).

I suppose it could feasibly be representing the omitted 'e' from 'Codexes'

4-7 months is absurd, but unfortunately appears right. At this rate it will take close to a decade to get a new tyranid codex to replace the piece of garbage they released. Is this company actually profitable the way it screws over armies for so long and refuses to correct problems with their products? Just curious because apart from diehards that will buy and play many different armies regardless of what GW does, their business plan seems to me to say that they would like to go out of business.
Sorry for the rant.

Sorry for the rant.
Sometimes it is profitable.
Recent years have been pretty bad, they had some serious losses. A couple of years ago they took a hit as they reorganized the company, closed stores, and fired a bunch of design guys. These cost saving measures + multiple 10% price increases (during a recession) have returned the company to something resembling profitability. Unfortunately it has cost them market share... as some of the former employees have gone on to work for competitors, and people get tired of the prices and yanking around what units are good after new releases (3-4 ed books you could just about gauge what was going to be good by how bad it used to be). The fith ed books have largely fixed that problem, as most units are usuable, and only a few issues with over powered units (bad decision to make thunder wolf cav so good without making a model...). The biggest complaints about the current books (other than nids, which got FAQed hosed) is actually how badly designed, underpowered, and narrow the older books are in comparison.
The rate of releases might be a product of the fact they don't really have much in the way of design staff, most of the old guys no longer work for the company (and for the most part thank God). Some of the editing has been pretty bad, and many of the FAQs address bad editing and what should be simple rules being poorly written.
Generally the problems GW has faced is a company that grew too fast, and didn't make good personnel decisions in addition to growing a large brick and mortar presence (large overhead that doesn't add value to final product, plus competes against FLGS which are customers). Its policy of raising prices (even against promises not to) during a recession might have helped in the short term (shareholder pressure) in the long run has hurt the company. They perhaps should have pursued a more supply side plan of reducing prices by reducing productions costs and general overhead.
