So I just bought a HUGE Dkok force from a fellow Dakka gamer and am looking to do one solid order from FW to finish the rest of my force. Was looking for some opinions on what I would need to make a good, solid competitive army list.

This is what I have so far.

50 Infantry
3 Engineer Squads
2 Platoon Command Squads
1 HQ Command Squad
1 Quartermaster/Ret
HW-
3 Las
7 H Bolter
2 Stubbers
3 Centaur Tractors
5x Death Riders
1x Commissar on Horse
3x Commissars
3x Commissar Tank Commander
2x Quad Launcers w/ Crew
1x Heavy Weapons Crew
Several Upgrade Equipment Packs
Vanq Russ Turret, Conquer Turret, Demolisher Turret
(I have the Russes already)

So that is that. I know it is a solid force as it is- but it needs to be fleshed out. What I am desperately lacking is Heavy Artillary ect. Also, there are some Dkok toys (such as Mole Launcher, Breaching Drills, ect) that look interesting but I don't know how well they do. Do I need more Heavy weapons or different kinds? Do I have enough infantry?

Any advice is helpful!

Are you using the IG codex or the DKoK list in IA?

Plan on using the updated DKok Codex found here.

How much did it cost? Well, lets just say I will be eating a lot of Ramen Noodles for the next month or so. =)

Which comissar did you buy, because I just learned why not to by the one drawing his sword.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Noodles are good... make sure you get some fruit... a student round here got the first case of scurvy for a few hundred years when he spent all his money on games/tv and ate porridge for 2 years.
Ummm not very good on the DKoK list but considering you're using the FW models you're btter off sticking with single infantry squads instead of platoons. Cost wise anyway.
Not sure on the rest. sorry.

Hi Noble, good to see you. One thing that it looks like you are lacking is a bit of mech. Centaurs look awesome on paper as long as you can hide them from fire, maybe use your conquerorsas and expensive shield or the demolishers as a slow moving wall of doom?

You could have a couple of melta guns inside a fast, open topped transport. You could also have one of the special/heavies hull mounted so that you could fire it a cruising speed. They are not scoring units but the ability to have some mobile infantry seems like a good idea, probably don't go overboard though.

However, having just reread the rules for engineers and breeching drills I can't see how you could pass this combo up as your main objective taking infantry and just ignore the grenadiers. The breeching drill is like some kind of super drop pod with a melting addiction, deepstrike one of these under any armour and see it go up in flames. It can also never mishap and come up even in cover. Attach a few engineer squads to it and they can come out next turn and assault with shotguns and gas, striking at I10 through cover could be a perfect way to claim an objective.

When it comes to artillery I would say that the medusa is king. It is really cheap for what it can do and a battery of these things hidden away will just kill anything on the board. Really, why would you take basilisks unless you needed the awesome range for some reason? Other artillery like quad guns and heavy mortars would be good at taking out lighter infantry with medusas to take out the 2/3+ guys.

All in all this list seems designed to take out guard; I suppose that is the point though isn't it? Light elite slot artillery to cut swathes through the troops, tougher and more loyal troops to take out light infantry in CC and really heavy artillery and hades to kill any armour in the rear and then deploy engineers to take the objectives, or at least hold them for the infantry.

Only thing I could say would be a must add would be the medusas. 24-120" range? That is insane. Probably the most fragile thing in the army considering it will be target number one but how could you refuse a battery of these things?

Trickster, thank you for the detailed post and grand insight!

I have indeed seen the beauty of the Breaching Drills and plan on picking up 3! These things are amazing and (as far as FW prices go) pretty affordable to buy. I also noticed that Engineers can take Demo Charges so more fun all around.

Looks like the Centaur is really my only option for troop transport as Dkok can't use all the Chimeras sitting around my house. (shame)

The Medusa is the king of artillery, you are correct! However, they are around 100 USD per so getting a solid group of them will be pricy.

So check these out.

These would make awesome Medusa for quite a bit less than FW!

Alex: I don't know what to tell you. I guess some people just love Dkok. =)
